Episode 7

Aiden was at work when he received a call from Lily’s nanny.
Lily
Lily's nanyy
Sir, I’m sorry to bother you, but Lily suddenly has a fever
Aiden Blake

What? How high is her fever? Did you call the doctor?
Lily
Lily's nanyy

Lily
Lily's nanyy
I’ve already given her medicine, but she keeps asking for you
Aiden Blake
Aiden Blake
*sighed* Alright, I’m on my way. Keep an eye on her, and let me know if anything changes

Aiden arrived home as quickly as he could, his mind racing with worry. As he stepped into the house, he was greeted by the nanny, who was hovering near the living room.
Lily
Lily's nanyy
She’s in her room, sir
Lily
Lily's nanyy
She’s been resting, but she’s been asking for you every now and then
Aiden nodded briskly, wasting no time as he made his way to Lily’s room. He quietly pushed the door open and found her curled up in bed, her small frame looking even smaller under the blankets. Her cheeks were flushed, and her normally bright eyes were dim with exhaustion.

Aiden Blake
Aiden Blake
I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere
Aiden Blake
Aiden Blake
You just rest, okay? I’ll take care of everything
Lily nodded slightly, her eyelids already growing heavy. Aiden stayed by her side, holding her small hand in his. He could feel the heat of her fever radiating through her skin, and it only made his resolve to ensure she got better even stronger.
A few minutes later, the nanny returned with a damp cloth, which Aiden used to gently dab at Lily’s forehead. As she drifted off to sleep, he sat there silently, watching over her and refusing to leave her side.
In that moment, all the stresses of work and his own personal challenges faded away. The only thing that mattered was Lily’s well-being, and he would do whatever it took to make sure she recovered quickly.

I’ll take over from here
Lily
Lily's nanyy
*nod* Of course, sir. Let me know if you need anything else. I’ll be in the kitchen preparing some soup for Lily
Aiden nodded in gratitude before returning his attention to Lily, who was still asleep, her breathing soft and steady. He gently touched her forehead again, noting that it was still warm but not as alarming as earlier.

*turned to Lily* Come on, just a few bites, okay? It’ll help you feel better
Lily hesitated but eventually sat up with Aiden’s help. He carefully fed her the soup, his worry evident in his every movement.
Lily took small, hesitant sips, her face scrunching slightly as if she didn’t have much appetite. But Aiden remained patient, encouraging her gently
After a few more bites, Lily leaned back against the pillows, her eyes heavy with fatigue
Aiden Blake
Aiden Blake
Now, let’s get you back to resting, okay?
Lily nodded, her eyelids already drooping. Aiden carefully tucked her in, making sure the blankets were snug around her. He stayed by her side, watching as she slowly drifted back to sleep.
Lily
Lily's nanyy
*stepped closer* She should be fine by tomorrow if her fever keeps going down, sir. Just keep her hydrated and let her rest
Aiden Blake
Aiden Blake
*nodded*
As the nanny left the room, Aiden pulled a chair closer to the bed, settling in for the night. Work could wait—right now, his only priority was being there for his daughter.

But only if you promise to eat a big breakfast first
Lily nodded eagerly, and Aiden helped her out of bed. Together, they headed to the dining table, where the nanny had prepared a simple but hearty breakfast.
As they ate, Lily kept chatting about the movie, her laughter filling the room. Aiden couldn’t help but feel relieved seeing her back to her cheerful self. For a moment, the weight of his responsibilities lifted, and all that mattered was spending time with her.
After breakfast, they settled on the couch, the TV playing the animated film Lily loved so much. She curled up next to Aiden, her small head resting against his arm. Aiden wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close.
It was a quiet, comforting day—just the two of them, sharing moments that Aiden cherished deeply.

Noah froze, rereading the words over and over. A wide smile spread across his face as the realization sank in—his painting had been chosen.
