Episode 6

Noah was heading home, and as he approached his apartment, he was startled to see his belongings outside. His eyes widened as he quickly walked up to the door.
He stepped inside, and to his shock, he saw someone pulling out more of his things
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
Wait, wait! What are you doing?! *voice rising in surprise*
The person paused, turning to face him. It was his landlord, looking slightly guilty but determined.
Landlord
Landlord
I’m sorry, Mr. Rivera
Landlord
Landlord
But I’ve been trying to reach you for days. You didn’t pay your rent, and I’ve already given you enough warnings.
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
What do you mean, I didn’t pay?
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
I’ve been paying my rent every month. There must be some mistake.
Landlord
Landlord
*sighed* I wish that were the case. But according to my records, you haven’t made a payment in two months. I’m afraid I have no choice but to take your things out of the apartment.
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
No, please
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
I’ll fix this, I swear. I’ve just been having some issues with the bank. Please, just give me some time.
Landlord
Landlord
I can’t let you stay if you don’t pay. I’m sorry, Mr. Rivera. You have until tomorrow to settle this, or I’ll have to call a moving service to clear out the rest.
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
I’ll take care of it. Just—just give me a day
Landlord
Landlord
*nodded* Alright, but this is your last chance. Don’t make me regret it
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
*nodded quickly*
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
Thank you... thank you so much
The landlord left, leaving Noah standing in the doorway, feeling defeated. But he couldn’t give up
Pulling out his phone, Noah quickly scrolled through his contacts, looking for someone—anyone—who might be able to help. But no, he couldn’t ask his friends for money. They had their own problems. There was one option he hadn’t considered yet: a loan.
His fingers hovered over the screen as he debated calling his brother, but he quickly dismissed the idea. The last thing he wanted was to worry his family, especially with the small amount of pride he had left.
With a sigh, he set the phone down and walked to his easel. The unfinished canvas sat before him, a painting he had been working on for weeks. He’d poured his heart into it, the colors and shapes on the canvas representing all his frustrations and dreams. But now it felt like another symbol of his failure.

it was Saturday afternoon, and Noah had just finished his painting. He was ready to submit it now.
Grabbing the painting carefully, he wrapped it up and prepared to leave.
He double-checked the packaging, ensuring it was secure enough to protect the piece. Taking a deep breath, he grabbed his bag and stepped out of his apartment.
The sun was beginning to dip lower in the sky, casting a warm glow over the streets. As Noah made his way to the submission venue, his mind raced with doubt. What if it’s not good enough? What if they don’t see the effort I put into it?
When he arrived, the building buzzed with energy. Artists and staff moved around, carrying their own works, chatting, and preparing for the showcase.
???
???
Hi, are you here to submit a piece? *approached him*
Noah Rivera
Noah Rivera
Yes *nodded*
???
???
Great! Just fill out this form, and we’ll take it from here *handing him a clipboard*
He wrote his name and the title of the piece: "Fragments of a Memory." Once done, he handed it back to the woman, who inspected it briefly.
???
???
Thank you, Mr. Rivera. We’ll make sure your painting is properly displayed
As Noah watched them carry his work away, a mix of relief and anxiety washed over him. It was out of his hands now. All he could do was wait and hope that his art would make an impact.
He stepped outside, the cool breeze brushing against his skin. With the submission behind him, Noah felt a small weight lift off his shoulders, though the anticipation of the gallery’s response lingered in the back of his mind.
Noah decided to meet up with his friend before heading back to his apartment. His friend had suddenly invited him out, and since it was a treat, Noah couldn’t really say no.
By the time Noah arrived at Café Sol, the cozy little café was already buzzing with customers. The warm smell of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods greeted him as he stepped inside. Spotting Mateo in their usual corner booth, Noah waved and made his way over.
