TAEKOOK ONESHOTS (Timeless. Ver)
Guilty as sin¿
The cafeteria was a prison within a prison—gray walls, flickering fluorescent lights, and the never-ending stench of disinfectant mixed with overcooked rice.
Jeon Jungkook
*sat at the far end of the room, his spoon idly stirring through a mound of cold food he had no intention of eating*
Around him, voices droned—loud laughter and murmurs of withdrawal symptoms, hushed conversations laced with paranoia, and the occasional scrape of plastic trays.
It had been nearly a month since he arrived. A month of suffocating routine, of forced therapy sessions, of being told over and over again that he was broken and needed to be fixed.
A month of being surrounded by people who were here for something real—addiction, crime, desperation—while Jungkook was here for simply—“not” being himself.
There were guards patrolling the cafeteria, yet the place buzzed with noise suddenly fell silent.
Jeon Jungkook
*eye subconsciously travels across the room to find Taehyung walking in*
Kim Taehyung
*enters the cafeteria with both his hands stuffed inside his pocket, a cigarette dwindling between his lips*
Taehyung has barely acknowledged his existence, like today Taehyung’s eyes never cake across his direction even accidentally.
Jeon Jungkook
*couldn’t stop watching him*
Jungkook told himself he didn’t care what taehyung thinks.
Taehyung moved like smoke—fluid, effortless, untouchable. He carried an aura of quiet danger, the kind that kept people at arm’s length, the kind that made even the guards hesitate.
He spoke little, but when he did, his words carried weight, like pebbles breaking the stillness of deep water. People here feared him. Respected him.
Jeon Jungkook
*wet his lips not able to take his eyes away from Taehyung*
Perhaps jungkook envied his freedom?
Maybe it was the way Taehyung never seemed afraid. Maybe it was the way he leaned against the cracked walls, cigarette between his fingers, despite the guards patrolling the halls.
Maybe it was the way his gaze cut through people without even trying. Whatever it was, it made Jungkook’s chest tighten in a way he didn’t want to think about.
It wasn’t a crush. It wasn’t.
Jeon Jungkook
*trying to convince himself when he heard a voice broke through his thoughts*
Jeon Jungkook
*blinked, looking up*
Across the table stood Yugyeom, one of the guards—one of the younger ones, probably in his mid-twenties.
He wasn’t like the others. He didn’t shove people into therapy rooms, didn’t treat them like criminals.
He had soft brown eyes and an easy smile, something that almost passed as kindness. Almost.
But deep under the kind exterior there was something that bothered jungkook.
Jeon Jungkook
*hesitated before shaking his head*
Yugyeom
*tilted his head slightly, watching him*
Jeon Jungkook
*feels a little transparent*
Yugyeom
You should eat. You don’t want to get sick in a place like this.
Jeon Jungkook
*let out a breath of amusement*
Jeon Jungkook
I can take care of myself *shakes his head and before eye catching up back to Taehyung*
Yugyeom
*pulled out a chair and sat across from him hiding the view point to taehyung , ignoring the brief glances from the other guards*
Yugyeom
You’re not like the others *casually, folding his arms on the table*
Yugyeom
You don’t belong here. *leans forward like trying to read through jungkook*
Jeon Jungkook
And what makes you think that? *kept a neutral expression*
Yugyeom
*lips curled slightly*
Yugyeom
The way you keep to yourself. The way you follow rules.
Jeon Jungkook
*lets out a dry laugh shaking his head*
Yugyeom
The way you look at Taehyung.*adds with a sly smirk*
Jeon Jungkook
*stiffened, but kept his expression neutral, but inside, something prickled at the statement*
Yugyeom
The way your eyes never leave his side…how your cheeks turn a hue of pink whenever he is close
Yugyeom
*reach out his hand and trace his finger against Jungkook’s cheek barely touching yet enough to make his hair prickly*
Jeon Jungkook
*breath hitched, fingers curling around the edge of his tray.*
Yugyeom
You do *cut in smoothly*
Yugyeom
It’s not obvious, don’t worry. But I notice things. *withdraw his fingers*
Jeon Jungkook
*swallowed*
Jungkook suddenly feeling too exposed, too seen
Jeon Jungkook
*glanced around, but no one was paying attention*
Jeon Jungkook
*eyes fall on taehyung*
He was there having his lunch unbothered by anything.
He was Not looking at him.
Jeon Jungkook
*exhaled, shifting his gaze back to Yugyeom*
Jeon Jungkook
So what? It’s not like he notices me
Yugyeom
*leaned forward slightly, voice dropping just enough to make Jungkook’s skin prickle*
Yugyeom
Maybe that’s for the best.
Something about the way he said it sent a chill up Jungkook’s spine. It wasn’t a warning, not exactly. But it wasn’t sounding harmless either.
Jungkook studied him, really studied him for the first time. The easy smile, the casual posture—it was all perfectly placed, like a mask fitted too well. But underneath it, something lurked.
Yugyeom
Are you trying to study me jungkook? *tilt his head*
Jeon Jungkook
*taken back*
Yugyeom
Well, answer me one thing.
Yugyeom
Why are you here? *eyes turn cold*
Jeon Jungkook
Why would someone be in a rehab? *looks away feeling uneasy*
Yugyeom
You clearly aren’t here to get ur body cleaned from drugs are you *whispers*
Jeon Jungkook
* shiver ran down his spine*
Jeon Jungkook
I should go *muttered, pushing his tray away*
Yugyeom
*watched as Jungkook stood and walked away, his gaze lingering longer than it should have*
And as Jungkook passed Taehyung—who didn’t even look up, who was nothing but a ghost against the table—he felt an unease settle deep in his chest.
For the first time since arriving, it wasn’t just survival he was worried about.
It was the feeling that he was part of a game he didn’t even realize had started.
But who was the player and who was the played
