Beneath The Rajvanshi Crown
Chapter-9
The jeep glides slowly along the winding desert road, its headlights cutting through the quiet night. The vast Rajasthani landscape stretches endlessly, the soft moonlight casting a silver sheen over the sand dunes. In the distance, the outline of a traditional haveli-style farmhouse comes into view, its arched windows glowing faintly in the serene night.
ML:-Rudra Rajvanshi
(stopping the jeep and gesturing) "This is a Rajvanshi farmhouse. We'll stay here tonight."
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(leaning forward to get a better view, her face lighting up) "It's beautiful. It looks so traditional... like it belongs in a fairytale."
They step out of the vehicle. The air is crisp, carrying the faint aroma of sand and desert blooms. The farmhouse, built with sandstone and adorned with intricate jharokhas (ornate windows), stands like a beacon of warmth in the vast expanse.
Rudra retrieves their essentials from the jeep while Ishani takes in the tranquil surroundings. The desert silence is punctuated only by the distant chirping of crickets and the soft rustle of the desert breeze.
ML:-Rudra Rajvanshi
Come let's go inside. 🫴
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(Nodding) ji Rana Sa.
He pushes open the heavy wooden doors, revealing an interior steeped in Rajasthani charm. The dimly lit foyer is adorned with colorful tapestries, intricately carved wooden furniture, and brass lamps that cast a warm, golden glow. The walls bear paintings of royal processions and desert landscapes, adding a touch of regal history to the cozy atmosphere.
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(looking around in awe) "This place is stunning. It feels like I've stepped into a piece of history."
ML:-Rudra Rajvanshi
(smiling faintly) "It's an old Rajvanshi property. We've tried to preserve its essence.
ML:-Rudra Rajvanshi
Let me call the caretaker to prepare some tea and snacks for you."
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(shaking her head quickly) "Oh no, Rana Sa, please don't disturb anyone. It's so late—they must be resting. If you don't mind, I can make tea instead."
ML:-Rudra Rajvanshi
(chuckling softly) "Dr. Maheshwari, you're my guest. I insist you let me host you properly. You've had enough adventures for one night."
He gestures toward the staircase, his tone warm yet commanding.
ML:-Rudra Rajvanshi
"There's a room is on the first floor, to the right. Please freshen up, and by the time you're done, I'll have tea ready for you."
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(smiling warmly) "Thank you, Rana Sa. That's very considerate of you."
She heads upstairs, her footsteps light against the polished wooden staircase. The guest room is a blend of comfort and tradition, with soft rugs, low diwans (sofas), and a large bed adorned with embroidered cushions. A vintage mirror framed in brass reflects the moonlight streaming through the jali (latticed) windows.
FL Ishani Maheshwari
Wow this room looks so pretty.
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(to herself, smiling) "How can someone like Rana Sa be so intimidating yet so thoughtful? He's full of surprises."
Rudra enters the rustic yet elegant kitchen. Brass utensils line the walls, and an old clay water pot rests in the corner. He rolls up the sleeves of his crisp white shirt, his movements precise as he begins preparing tea. The aroma of freshly ground cardamom and ginger fills the air as he brews masala chai.
He pauses briefly, wiping his hands on a cloth, and his eyes drift toward the reflection of himself in a brass plate hanging on the wall. His thoughts wander to Ishani—her smile, her quiet admiration earlier. He shakes his head, smirking faintly.
ML:-Rudra Rajvanshi
(muttering to himself) "Why do I care so much about what she thinks? What is she doing to me?"
He sets his thoughts aside, focusing on preparing snacks: a plate of crispy namak pare (savory crackers), delicate kachoris (spiced pastries), and piping hot tea.
Ishani descends the staircase, her soft footsteps drawing Rudra's attention. She stops near the kitchen entrance, watching him arrange the tray with practice ease. His shirt sleeves are rolled up to his elbows, revealing strong forearms as he works.
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(thinking, her lips curving into a faint smile) "Uff, this man looks so hot and handsome while cooking.
She catches herself, lightly shaking her head.
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(muttering under her breath, amused) "Focus, Ishani. Stop staring like an idiot."
Rudra walks into the living room moments later, carrying a tray laden with tea and snacks. The brass cups and colorful ceramic plates match the traditional decor, and the aroma of chai mingles with the faint scent of rain outside.
He sets the tray on a low wooden table adorned with a mirror work runner, then takes a seat in the adjacent armchair.
ML:-Rudra Rajvanshi
(handing her a cup of tea) "Here you go, Dr. Maheshwari. Masala chai. I hope it's to your taste."
FL Ishani Maheshwari
(Smiling, taking the cup) "It's perfect for a night like this. Thank you, Rana Sa."
