"I'm not asking you who you're leaving with, am I?" I say to Fabian, who's standing and walks towards me, pinning me against the wall.
"You're no one to ask me things, girl, and you better learn your place."
"Now you can get out of my room," I say, looking him in the eye.
"You slap me again and I'll educate you, since your father didn't." He leaves the room, slamming the door.
I lock it and lie down to sleep. I hear a knock and see the same woman who greeted me yesterday.
"Your in-laws have come to have breakfast with you," she says.
"I'll be down in a minute," I say.
I go back to brushing my teeth and half-fix my hair with my fingers, I adjust my robe and go downstairs, they turn to look at me and I see Fabian sitting.
"Come, daughter, sit with us," my mother-in-law says.
"Good morning," I say, sitting down. They serve me and I start eating.
"Have your parents contacted you yet?" my father-in-law asks and I nod.
"I'm going to see them today," I say.
"Arrange with Fabian for him to take you."
"That's what the driver is for," Fabian says without looking at me, "just remember that your parents don't have a third daughter."
"Tiana!" my mother-in-law says, "would you like to go shopping with me?"
"Diana!" I correct her, "my sister is Tiana, and yes, thank you, I would like to go with you."
"I'm sorry," my mother-in-law says, embarrassed.
"Don't worry," I say, "it's understandable."
"See you later," my father-in-law says to his wife, leaning in to give her a chaste kiss.
Fabian gets up and walks to the exit and my father-in-law leaves with him.
"Daughter, I'm leaving," my mother-in-law says, getting up, "let me know when you're ready to go out together."
I nod and she leaves and I go up to my room and put on the same dress as yesterday,
I go downstairs and the driver is there, serious.
He opens the door for me and I get in, he gets in too and sets the location and follows it until we arrive,
"Wait here," I say.
"I have orders to go up with you," he says.
"Tell your boss that if he wants to watch me, he should do it himself," I say, getting out and entering my house, closing the door.
"Daughter," my mother walks towards me as soon as she sees me, "how are you?"
"Fine, and my father?"
"He went with your husband, he called him to close the deal."
"Call him sir or whatever you want but don't say he's my husband," I say.
"Diana?" I hear someone call me and when I look back I see my friend standing there, I run to hug him, "when did you arrive?" "I was passing by and saw you enter."
"I missed you," I say, hugging him.
"How nice," I hear someone say and when I pull away from my friend I see Fabian standing with his hands in his pockets, "my wife hasn't even been married for a day and she's already with a man."
"No sir, he is her childhood friend," my father says,
And my friend looks at us without understanding anything.
"I imagine that's what he said about his other daughter before she ran away with the driver."
"Diana!" my friend says, "what's going on? Why does he say you're his wife?"
"I'll tell you later," I say, and he nods.
"Excuse me, sirs," he says, leaving, and when he passes Dylan's side.
"If you value your life, don't come here again."
My friend finishes leaving and I look at my father,
"I don't think those papers will be valid until his daughter respects herself and doesn't tarnish my name by behaving like a tramp" and I clench my fists.
"Of course not, sir, my daughter will comply with the year but you gave me your word that she will resume her life again, once that date is met."
"Aha, and if she knows how to behave," he says, leaving my house.
"Only one year," my father says and I nod, going up to my room, I already had the suitcases packed, my father helps me take them down and when I leave the driver looks more serious, taking the suitcases up, I say goodbye to my parents who for some reason look at me with pity, I get in the car next to Fabian
"You already know what will happen the next time you don't comply with what I order," Fabian says without looking up.
"Yes sir," the driver says, starting the car.
"Leave me at the office and my wife with my mother," he says.
"I'm not a rag to be dragged from here to there, I can decide where I'm going," I say almost shouting but I'm grabbed by the jaw strongly,
"You raise your voice to me again and you don't want to know what will happen," he says.
"Go bother your lover," I say,
"From what I see, you are not only a badly educated girl but also rude and lacking manners."
"You married the wrong one," I say.
"I already know that," he says and I feel like slamming him against the car window.
The car stops at what I think is his company, it has many floors, he gets out and closes the door, the car stops when it arrives at my mother-in-law's.
I look in the suitcases for pants with my sneakers and a crop top, I grab them and get out of the car, I enter my in-laws' house, I ask for a bathroom to change and I do so, I fold my dress, storing it in a backpack that I bring with my things, when I go downstairs my mother-in-law looks at me surprised,
"You look like a girl," she tells me.
"Sister-in-law? I didn't recognize you in those clothes," Damian says.
"Let's go," my mother-in-law says, leaving. We arrive at the plaza and Damian pulls me.
"Come, I'll show you something," he says, going to a claw machine, he fails twice, making me laugh, on the third he hits a large stuffed animal and gives it to me.
"Thank you," I say, grabbing it,
I see my mother-in-law talking to some people along with Damian, we approach.
"Damian, how beautiful your girlfriend is," they say.
"No, she is Fabian's wife," my mother-in-law corrects them
They apologize, we continue walking and at a table sitting I see Fabian with his father and other people, next to him the same woman,
"Hello son," his mother arrives to greet him, and greets her husband as well.
"Hello ma'am" Fabian's lover greets her and my mother-in-law half-smiles at her.
"We're leaving because we have things to buy," she says and one of the men speaks.
"I didn't know Damiancito had a girlfriend."
"Isn't she beautiful?" Damian says, making Fabian look at us.
"She is Fabian's wife," his father corrects, and the partners apologize.
"Don't worry," Damian says, "my brother got himself such a young wife too."
"I have what I want," Fabian says, "it's not my fault you can't get one like that," he tells him.
"And if we ask my sister-in-law?" he says and I can't feel more uncomfortable.
"Okay, we'll let you work," my mother-in-law says.
We walk away and out of the corner of my eye I see that Fabian didn't care, because he continues as if nothing happened, while his lover gets closer to him.
