Jacinth sat stiffly on the edge of the bed, her hands clenched in her lap. Her feet, raw and bleeding, rested on his knee as he cleaned them. She winced when the cloth touched an open cut.
The soft patter of the rain on the tent and the faint murmurs from outside were the only sounds between them. Zander finally glanced up, his gaze meeting hers for a fleeting moment. His jaw clenched, but he said nothing, turning back to his task.
Zander Von Edrington
You shouldn’t have done this.
As he tied the knot, he murmured, almost to himself.
Jacinth didn’t respond, her silence louder than any excuse she could offer.
Her eyes caught on Zander’s soaked shirt again, the water dripping steadily onto the floor. Her worry flared, as she reached out without a word, her hands brushing the damp fabric near his collar.
Jacinth Ashbourne
You’ll catch a cold.
She said, her voice soft but insistent.
Zander Von Edrington
I'll be fine.
His tone light. But when her fingers tugged at his shirt with more determination, he chuckled softly.
Zander Von Edrington
It's not a good time to have sex, is it? I didn't realize we were at that stage.
He teased bluntly, a playful glint in his eyes.
Zander Von Edrington
Well, not that I'm complaining. If you wanted to undress me, you only had to ask, Duchess.
Her hands froze, her cheeks instantly flushing a deep red.
He laughed, the sound low and warm.

Zander Von Edrington
This fits you well.
Zander leaned against the table, his arms crossed as he watched Jacinth adjust the oversized shirt he’d lent her. The sleeves rolled up clumsily to free her hands. The hem skimmed just above her knees, a stark contrast to the elegant gowns he was used to seeing her in.
Zander Von Edrington
I didn’t think my wardrobe would ever look this… charming.
Jacinth shot him a glare.
Jacinth Ashbourne
It’s not like I had a choice. Your shirt is—
She caught herself, sighing.
Zander Von Edrington
Fine, fine. I'm kidding.
Zander leaned in quickly, his lips brushing softly against Jacinth’s for just a few seconds before rolling onto the bed.
The kiss was sweet and quick, but it made her heart skip a beat. When he pulled back, he noticed the surprise in her eyes and smiled idly.
Zander Von Edrington
Yeah, I know it’s your first kiss... and it’s mine too.
Zander Von Edrington
Now, don’t keep me waiting too long. Come to bed.
He tugged at the blanket, pulling it up slightly as he lay there, waiting for Jacinth to settle beside him.
She hesitated for a moment, her heart still racing from the unexpected kiss. But then, feeling a sense of comfort in his presence, she slowly moved closer to him. As she gently nestled into his side, the softness of the blanket enveloped them both.
Zander Von Edrington
Good night, My Duchess.
He murmured softly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
Jacinth closed her eyes and let out a quiet sigh, settling into the comfort of Zander's embrace.

Cara De Clare — Reverie! 🌈
He's like Lord De Clare, passion hidden underneath the veil of composure. I remember how he said to Devi — “I wish to take you right here and right now, to press your thigh against me and to make your cheeks flush, but we shall do that in our wedding night, Miss no-lady Sharma.”
