Some people won’t value you the same way you value them, so stop forcing things and trying to convince them to appreciate you. If it’s not there, then it’s not there. Sooner or later, they’ll realize your worth; and if they don’t, then they never deserved you in the first place. You can’t make someone value you by giving them all of what they already don’t appreciate. Sometimes, people don’t notice the things others do for them until they stop doing them.
We’re often let down by the most trusted people and loved by the most unexpected ones. Some use their words to make us cry, while others ignore our faults and cherish our smiles. Some leave us when we need them most, while others stay with us even when we ask them to leave. The world is a mixture of people; we just need to know which hand to shake, which hand to hold, and which hand to slap away.
After all, that’s life—learning to hold on and learning to let go.
