The Hang Out

Aaron pulled away and watched my eyes and I watched him back lost in my thoughts. "Umm", not me trying to find my words. "I've liked you for a while now", Aaron said looking down as if embarrassed. "Oh shit! What should I say? All this was just for the bet. I'm just going to say, I like you too and see how far this can go", I spoke to myself in my clogged mind. "I actually like you too Aaron", I said blushing. "Really?", he said looking shocked. I nod my head in response for yes. The silence in the cool air-conditioned car became loud and awkward. Just two boys watching each other and don't know what to do or what to say. "Well, this is awkward", Aaron said patting this right thigh. "Let's go", I said opening the car door and gesturing for him to come with me. Opening the car door and smelling the aroma of burgers made me felt the hunger of terror. I closed the door and walked on the stoned like ground with Aaron and started to order. While ordering, I felt Aaron's soft hand wander about my arm and held grasp of my hand. I saw Aaron of the corner of my eye lost in space watching me. "Is that all sir?", the female cashier asked. " Yes. Aaron, what do you want?", I snapped my fingers in front of his face to bring him back to reality. "Oh. A double cheeseburger and a Coca-Cola please", he spoke getting back to earth. "That'll be ninety-five dollars and two cents. Will that be cash or card, sir?", she asked looking at me. "Cash", I said reaching in for my wallet. "Don't worry. I got it", Aaron said stopping me midway, then reaching in his black jeans for his wallet and giving the money to the cashier. "No need to thank me", Aaron said wining at me and reaching for the bag of food and strolled off. I just stood there and watched him walk off and walked off behind him. He sat down at the exposed table in the park across from the trailer and waited for me. "You walk too fast. Way too fast", I said trying to catch my breath and sat down with my hand on my warm chest. "Sorry. I'll slow down next time", Aaron said giving me my food and drink.

After eating, we cleaned up our table and cross the street to get back to the car. While Aaron was going to start the vehicle, I went over to throw away the garbage and went back to Aaron. I opened the car door and sat down before closing the door and watched Aaron beginning to drive off. While driving back to my house, I watched the bright stars in the dark and meaningful sky and decided to ask Aaron a question I've been meaning to ask him. Aaron was fixing his perfect hair and driving the car one handed. "Wait, why is that kinda attractive?", I told myself. "Aaron, how did you know where I live?", I asked him and he watched me half smiling. "Uh...", he said, and putting one hand behind his neck.
