As Camellia and Leo left the NIS office, a heavy silence hung between them. The revelations about Yohan's past had shaken them to the core, leaving them grappling with a mix of emotions – concern, confusion, and a deep sense of unease.
Camellia wrapped her arms around herself, her brow furrowed in thought. "I can't believe this is happening. Yohan, a North Korean defector? It just doesn't seem possible."
Leo placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I know, it's a lot to take in. But we have to trust that Agent Kang and the NIS are doing everything they can to protect Yohan and uncover the truth."
"But what if they're wrong?" Camellia's voice trembled with worry. "What if Yohan is in real danger? We can't just sit back and do nothing."
Leo sighed, understanding her distress. "I know it's hard, but we have to follow their instructions for now. Interfering could make things worse for Yohan."
Camellia chewed on her lip, her mind racing. "I just can't shake the feeling that there's more to this story. Yohan's always been so kind and gentle – the idea of him being involved with the North Korean regime is just unthinkable."
"I agree," Leo said, his brow furrowed. "There has to be more to it than what Agent Kang told us. We need to find a way to help Yohan, but we have to be careful."
They walked in silence for a few moments, each lost in their own thoughts. Suddenly, Camellia stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening.
"Wait, Leo – what if Yohan is in danger right now? What if the NIS is wrong, and they're not doing enough to protect him?"
Leo's expression mirrored her concern. "You're right, we can't just sit back and wait. We have to do something, even if it's just to check on him and make sure he's safe."
Camellia nodded, her determination growing. "Exactly. I'm going to call him, see if he's alright. Maybe we can at least let him know that we're here for him, even if we can't tell him what we know."
Leo hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay, let's do it. But let's be careful, and stick to the basics. We don't want to risk jeopardizing the investigation."
Camellia quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Yohan's number, her heart pounding in her chest. After a few rings, his familiar voice answered.
"Camellia? Is everything okay?"
"Yohan, hi," Camellia said, trying to keep her voice steady. "I just wanted to check in on you. How are you doing?"
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line. "I'm fine, Camellia. Is there something wrong?"
Camellia glanced at Leo, who nodded encouragingly. "No, no, nothing's wrong. I just... I wanted to make sure you were okay, that's all."
Yohan's voice held a hint of concern. "I appreciate you checking on me, but I'm really fine. Is there something you're not telling me?"
Camellia hesitated, her eyes meeting Leo's. "No, Yohan, it's nothing like that. I just... I miss you, that's all. I wanted to hear your voice."
Another pause, then a soft sigh. "Camellia, you know you can talk to me about anything, right? If something's bothering you, please tell me."
Camellia felt a lump in her throat, the weight of the secret she was keeping bearing down on her. "I know, Yohan. I just... I can't talk about it right now. But I want you to know that I'm here for you, no matter what."
Yohan's voice softened. "Okay, Camellia. I trust you. If you need me, you know where to find me."
"Thank you, Yohan," Camellia said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll talk to you soon, okay?"
"Okay. Take care, Camellia."
Camellia ended the call, her hand trembling.
