Cultist

We head to a large church on the outskirts of the noble district. "This is the place."

   Lightning arcs off titans fur. "Let's slaughter them!"

     I pat his face. "Titan we're not savages a gentleman always knocks."

     I yell. "Knock knock." As I kick the two massive doors off their hinges sending them flying into the church embedding them in the wall above the alter.

    Hooded men stand up I draw two pistols from my inventory mowing them down as I walk to the front of the church. I hear a secret door opening from the back of the church.

    I lay down at the front of the church next to a bench titan becomes invisible as the group of robed men rush towards the alter. "My god what happened here!?"

     Once the 8 of them pass me I whistle and they look down I shoot them down standing up. "Secret entrance I like it I need one of those."

     Titan becomes visible. "They dress alike that's kinda odd isn't it?"

      I glance down. "I always wondered why cultists wear robes to hide their identities? These have to be hot or maybe they have a special kind of robe."

    I equip one and look at titan. "Holy shit this thing is really comfortable I think I found my new favorite outfit."

    He flips around. "I want one."

     I equip him with one and he wags his tail. "It's soft and breezy."

     I smile. "Right?!"

     I point towards the door. "If the basic cultists have this what do you think the higher ranked leaders have?"

     His eye's glow red. "Let's find out!"

     We go down the spiral staircase leading to an underground compound. A man rushes up to us. "Who are you!? What's going on up there?"

     I smile. "Im brother Ren and this Is brother Titan we're new members the imperial guard is upstairs the other members sent us down here to hide."

    He looks panicked and has us follow him into a massive room with a bunch of other cultists. I nudge Titan. "The old dude in white he's gotta be the leader bet that robe is god tier comfortable."

    His tail wags. "Let's get it."

      They start talking about what to do and I pull a golden crystal gass grenade out putting at the pin but it wont budge. The guy who brought me in looks at me. "What are you doing what's that?"

    I smile still pulling at it. "I found this upstairs and it looks like it could help so I-"

    I pull the pin out and gold smoke comes out I drop it. "That's not good."

     Everyone rushes the door but I've sealed it. A mask appears on titan and my face I walk over to the old guy he grabs his throat as he chokes. "I know this is a bad time but does that robe come in one size or did you get it fitted?"

    He falls over onto the ground. "I see your busy I'll come back later."

     I see the cup on the table. "Ooh refreshments."

      I lift the mask taking a sip spitting it out. "Nope still don't like booze."

      I put the mask back on sitting down reading the popes notes while wearing his robes. I knew this thing would have way more buffs than the average one. I look around as the gas vanishes. "Looks like that's over with."

     I stand up stretching. "Mission accomplished I got a good set of clothes and-"

     Titan interrupts me. "What about Scarlet!?"

       I sigh. "Right we gotta save the princess."

       I walk to the last hall of the compound 5 men are guarding the outside of the door inside is a incredible heat source. "Titan I'll leave them to you."

     He grows to his large size running down the hall. "Right!"

      I lean against the wall waiting as I hear screams. He walks back down with a bloody mouth and a arm hanging from his face. "Titan you have a little human on you."

     He licks his chops and we go to the door pushing it open a heat wave hits us. "Damn who turned on the heat?"

     Chained on her knees is a women made of fire. "Leave!"

      I walk towards her. "Calm down I'm here to help you."

      The heat intensifies. "Liar you're one of them!"

      I glance down. "Oh the robes, yeah I just killed them all and thought the robes looked cool so I grabbed one."

      She looks confused and the heat drops. "You killed them?"

      I point at titan behind me as he burps out a half burnt robe. "Yep."

      I step closer to her. "Is your name Scarlet?"

       She nods. "How did you know?"

        I smile. "A trio of little orphans asked me to come find their big sister so I thought id help."

      Her eye's soften. "They're alive!?"

      I wave my hand showing her the image of them. "This was taken this morning."

      She tears up. "I can't return to them like this I burn everything I touch those bastard cultists kept experimenting with me until I became this. I have to admit I enjoyed burning them when they got close. You should just kill me."

    My clothes change back to normal as I kneel in front of her. "Not gonna happen I always finish as task im given. I'm gonna get you out of here but first I'll turn you back to normal this might feel a bit weird so bare with it."

    My head bursts into gold flames I lean in kissing her forehead regulating her power. She moans slightly as all the flames go out on her body changing her back to normal her ruby red hair and cyan eye's glow slightly.

    I break the chains turning back to normal. "All better."

    She jumps into my arms I pat her back forming a black dress on her body. "Thank you so much!"

     I pick her up carrying her out of the compound the floor behind me bursts into gold flames turning the entire church to ash by the time we step outside. I take her to get something to eat and shower before going to see the kids.

   They come running out hugging Scarlet. They thank me and scarlet comes over. "I don't know how to thank you."

   I smile. "No thanks necessary-"

   She leans over kissing me on the cheek. "How's this."

    I laugh slightly. "That will do."

    The blonde pouts. "Big sister no fair!"

     Scarlet laughs then looks at me. "So will I ever see you again?"

     I smile. "Of course-"

     I snap wiping their memories. "Not."

     She looks at me a bit confused. "I'm sorry what?"

      I reach into my pocket. "The guild said you left these at the desk I was sent to return them to you."

     Her eye's light up. "Thank you so much."

      I turn walking out of the academy Titan walks beside me. "Master why'd you do that, Ms. Scarlet liked you that could have become something."

     I glance at him. "I know but our job is full of chaos and monsters they've been through enough it wouldn't be right to drag them into it. They deserve a life of peace."

    He nudges me. "it's still sad."

    I pat his head. "I'll make it up to you with dinner."

     He perks up and we head through the door to the tavern everything goes black.

     I burst awake to the sound of my alarm clock Titan is laying next to me in bed. "Titan get up I'm gonna be late!"

    I get dressed in a hurry heading for the door he gets up stretching. "Master do we have time for breakfast."

    I stop with my hand on the door nob sighing. "Yes..."

     I make breakfast sitting down eating with him in his puppy form on the table. I do the dishes and bolt down the hall jumping down the stairwell 18 floors grabbing onto the 2nd floors railing stopping my momentum landing normally running through the lobby waving to the doorman. "Good luck Ren!"

   I run down the busy street full of people. I see a little girl crossing the street to early I rush over picking her up jumping over a speeding car slidding my hand across the roof stopping the car dead.

     I land behind it making eye contact with the driver of the car behind it stopping their car a few feet from us. I hand her off to her mom running down the sidewalk. "Master a shortcut up ahead the alley."

    We turn I run up the wall jumping the fence landing on the other side a man is mugging a women I sucker punch him glancing at her as I keep running through the alley. "That's two so far hopefully we don't run into any major-"

    I stop looking at a van parked in front of the bank. "A bank robbery great, i don't have time for this."

    I alter my voice using my menu to tap into the police radios around the area alerting them about the van. I get into the elevator of the Arc business building adjusting my hair and tie as a mission complete screen appears.

   I head into the interview waiting area and a women comes out saying they've made a decision. I sigh turning around getting on the elevator leaning against the wall. "Sorry master."

    I look up at the sky. "Don't worry about it there's always next time."

     We get a doughnut and jump to the top of the Arc building eating it while watching the city. "Today isn't my day."

    A guy in a suit comes out onto the roof walking over to the ledge. "Master he's gonna jump."

    I glance at titan. "No he's-"

   The guy steps off the building and I scratch my head. "Look at that I guess he did. Look on the bright side at least theres an opening maybe they'll hire me."

   Titan glares at me. "To soon?"

    He sighs. "He hasn't even hit the pavement yet so yea to soon."

    I sigh. "Fine."

    I vanish setting him beside me handing titan another doughnut. "W-What happened!? Who are you why am I?"

   I hand him a doughnut. "Shut up and eat."

   He starts eating and glances at me. "Are you an angel?"

    I sprout glowing gold wings. "Yep it's my job to keep you alive so don't walk off buildings okay or next time I'll drop you from higher understand?"

    He nods looking down. "I don't know what came over me maybe the stress from work and my boss getting on my *** I want to ask for a raise but my wife says im to much of a coward and I-"

    I hold my hand up slightly. "I get it chuck you got a shit life."

     He points at himself. "My name's dave though-"

      I take a bite of my doughnut. "Not important chuck but what is important is that you ask for that raise go into your bosses office explain how you benefit the company and if he turns you down don't let it get to you just work harder and next quarter ask again when you have the numbers on your side. As for your wife don't let her disrespect you if she's gonna talk to you that way just tell her to **** off and go do something else."

    I hand him a card. "If that doesn't work just call me."

    He eats his doughnut thanking me heading inside. "Master you're an angel?!"

    I laugh slightly as my wings vanish. "Of course not."

     I get a alert looking up. "Oh great my day just got worse."
