Chapter 5
Lea
Yoona!!! Please stop this, at this point you're going to starve yourself to death, I'm really worried about you...please atleast eat something, I'll leave the food here okay?
Lea pleaded with her best friend
She locked herself in her room immediately after the funeral and hasn't came out since then
She hasn't eaten or drank anything for days and at this point Lea was worried she'd find a dead body inside
She wasn't even responding to her so Lea could know she was okay in there
Lea
Yoona? Can you atleast show your face for a bit so I know you're okay? I'm scared Yoona
Lea started sobbing when she heard no movement from the inside
She sank down the door and cried
Yoona had lost her dad just a few weeks ago, she was heart broken and must be feeling lonely since he was all she had
Lea didn't know how she could help her feel better, she must be in so pain, having lost her dad and not knowing the whereabouts of her mother
Lea
You know I'm here for you right? If you need someone to talk to I'm here Yoona, don't lock yourself and deal with the pain alone, it hard I know but talking might help
Lea
I made breakfast, I'll leave it by the door so please eat Yoona
Lea placed the tray with food down praying she came out and ate
Later that day Lea went to check whether Yoona had eaten but the tray was still there not touched
She sighed deeply and took it to replace it with dinner
Lea
Yoona, you didn't eat breakfast again, I brought dinner can you please eat? I have a night shift today so I won't be back until morning
Lea
Also I charged your phone in case you need it, there's a number that has called you numerous times, it's might be work
Lea always tried to keep the conversation going although she got no response in return, she was doing anything at this point to let Yoona know she was here for her
Lea
I'll buy choco pie on the way back so let's enjoy it together okay?
Lea lingered for a bit then finally left, although she wanted to stay home their rent was due so she dragged herself to work
Yoona heard Lea's retreating footsteps and closed her eyes, she felt bad for doing this to her but at the moment she just wanted to be left alone
She didn't feel like talking, eating or seeing anyone
it pained her whenever she heard Lea sob outside the door but she couldn't find the strength nor courage to open the door and comfort her when she needed comfort herself
She lost her dad who was the only family member she had, she didn't know whether her mother was alive or dead, she was all alone
And if it wasn't for the strange man she met in the hospital's rooftop she would have probably thrown herself over the building
The pain felt too unbearable after the doctor's told her that the factory her dad worked for had collapsed and buried the workers inside, her dad died on the way to the hospital due to a head injury
She felt like her world was crushing down and went to the rooftop where she decided she had no reason to live anymore and that was very stupid and selfish of her
Seeing as she would have left Lea behind who has been through thick and thin for her
Yoona felt guilty remembering the promise they made to each other that they would would stick together till the end and confine in one another whenever things got too difficult to handle
But here she was locking herself up
Yoona tried to get up but fell back down on the bed, her body felt weak due to malnutrition after multiple failed attempts she finally dragged herself from bed and walked towards the door and unlocked it
She didn't have the energy to carry the food inside so she sat down by the door and began to eat
The food felt foreign in her mouth and she gagged a few times but forced it down and greedily drank the bottle of water dry
After a while she got up and cleaned after herself then went to take a shower her body gravely needed
After that was done she wrote a note for Lea and placed it on the kitchen island for her to see when she got back then she went back to her bedroom and locked the door
Coworker
What's going on with you these days? You've been spacing out and keep on making mistakes, do you really want to get yourself fired Lea?
The woman pointed at the at the cup of coffee that was overflowing
Lea blinked her eyes a few times then came to her senses
She rushed to get a towel to clean the table which was stained with coffee
She liked Lea but if she kept this on she really was going to lose her job, a lots of complaints has been issued about her
Lea came back with the towel but the woman took it from her
Coworker
Go get yourself some air and come back when you're calm
Lea probably wasn't aware of the fact that she had started crying
She bowed and rushed outside only to bumb into a hard chest making her lose her balance and fall down
She heard a deep voice ask
No she wasn't okay and she started sobbing loudly
The customer's turned to look at her direction, some looks were judgemental and some were sympathetically
Minseok looked around and didn't like the way all the attention was suddenly at them
He pulled the woman up, grabbed her hand and pulled her gently with him towards the door
His feets took him to the car, he knocked on the window and it tilted down
Minseok
Taejin-nah can you step outside for a bit?
Taejin looked behind Minseok and saw a woman crying
He opened the door and stepped outside
Minseok opened the passenger door and pushed the woman inside then went to the front and took out a box of tissues, gave them to her and closed the door
Minseok
I'm really sorry about this sir but I couldn't leave her like that
Minseok bowed at Taejin in apology
Kang Taejin
It's fine, stay here with her I'll go get us coffee
Kang Taejin
It's okay, I also have two pair of functioning legs
Was all Taejin said and left
Minseok stayed behind and waited for the woman to be calm, she came out a few minutes later her eyes puffy and nose red from crying
Lea
I'm really sorry for putting you in this position and thank you
Minseok found himself asking
Lea
I'd be lying if I said I was okay, thank you again for your help
Minseok
I didn't do much...
Lea
You saved me from the embarrassment
She finally made eye contact with him as she had been avoiding his eyes
Lea
Allow me to treat you to a meal, I dislike being in debt
Lea hiccupped and covered her mouth, whenever she cried too much she ended up getting hiccups
She pinched her nose and shut her eyes tight for a bit to get rid of it
Minseok found the sight cute
When she deemed herself okay she released her nose
Minseok
Give me your phone then
Minseok looked at the phone and smiled a little before typing his contact along with his name then gave it back to her
Minseok
I'll be waiting for your call then
Lea nodded her head and bowed at him before she went back to work
Taejin came back holding two cups of coffee and gave one to him
Minseok
She said she wasn't but it not exactly my business so I didn't pry
Minseok had a distant worried look in his eyes and Taejin noticed
Kang Taejin
You did good, she'll be okay I'm sure
Taejin then went inside the car
Minseok's eyes lingered for a second at the coffee shop before he also went inside the car and they drove off
