Assassination

Colin cautiously unbuttoned his shirt and used a candle to examine the cut on his chest in the dimly lit, deserted restaurant.

The wound is still open, and no therapy has been administered.

But there was no sign of blood leaking out.

as a result of his newfound ability to control his body's blood flow.

This may be another talent that vampires are born with.

Colin slowly moved the wound to the sides while holding both sides of it.

"Hiss—" He had to take a breath after experiencing a sharp pain.

Colin, however, was a bit content.

It at least demonstrates that his neurological system is still in good shape.

Colin felt that he was not all that different from regular folks as a result of this.

Colin could easily see his heart through the little hole created when the wound was opened up.

It has stopped jumping.

Okay, so this is a little unique compared to regular folks.

Colin felt a bit depressed.

"Why--"

Colin sighed and let go of his hands, allowing the muscles to gradually heal the wounds as a group.

There is no need for a bandage because it won't bleed anyhow.

All that remains to be seen is how long it takes to heal, if it heals at all.

To be quite honest, Colin briefly worried when he discovered the blade lodged in his chest when he woke up this morning.

He believed that since he passed away as soon as he arrived, he might be the most unsuccessful time traveller in history at the moment.

But then he realised that he was immortal.

He was pierced in the heart, but he was still alive.

Colin had no idea who stabbed him in the heart right now.

Colin was able to acquire his predecessor's memories during this time journey.

He was unable to determine the identity of the assassin from these memories.

Colin, though, already has some suggestions for luring the killer out of the shadows.

There's no rush, though.

The new body he inherited, which is thought to be a vampire, is what he is now more intrigued about.

Colin re button his shirt and then focused on the last item of food on the large table: the garlic.

It's said that garlic terrifies vampires.

Colin had no knowledge of the vampires from books and films in the previous world, and he also had no idea what settings the vampires in this world adhered to.

There is no other option besides cautious experimentation.

With the aid of a table knife, Colin delicately placed a piece of ant-sized garlic in his mouth.

"vomit!!!"

Colin simply puked on the ground.

It appears that garlic frightens vampires in this realm as well.

Colin the Master, how are you doing? When the maid manning the door heard the ruckus, she hurried inside to investigate.

"I'm good, ugh!"

I'm afraid you're sick, Master. I'll head out right away to find Pastor Miguel.

"No!" Colin almost leaped up in surprise at hearing "priest" but quickly stopped him. No need...I'm all right.

"Really? However, your face is really pale today, and you are currently even throwing up.

I said there's no need. Colin massaged his stomach, fighting the want to throw up, and scowled viciously at the woman at the door.

The maid could only conclude with "Then please take care of yourself" before hastily leaving after appearing to be terrified by Colin's severe expression.

"Huh--" Colin exhaled a sigh of relief while panting and leaned back in the chair.

Priests are asked for medical advice by vampires?

Be ill!

Colin did not have the courage to put his own life in danger for the experiment, even though the priests in this world would not always be able to suppress vampires.

least not just now.

He might test the church in this world in the future, after he is fully ready.

However, not just now.

After some time

In order to continue writing on the parchment, he picked up the quill:

I detest garlic, and eating it will make me throw up.

Colin wrote on the notepad after carefully noticing the changes in his body:

However, it is not lethal.

Colin scowled as he continued to look at the square letters on the parchment.

wrong.

Colin instantly saw that the amount of garlic he had just consumed was a very small portion as he looked at the piece in front of him.

difficulties with measurement.

It might not be dangerous to consume a tiny amount, but if you consume too much...

When Colin observed the complete head of garlic in front of him, he appeared a little green.

He was unwilling to try again.

Just forget it and avoid garlic in the future.

Colin struggled for a time before deciding to stop this risky attempt.

Colin got up and left the restaurant after rolling the paper up and placing it in his arms.

When she noticed Colin, the maid who was on duty outside the hall swiftly bowed.

Say "clean up." The maid bowed her head and avoided looking at Colin as Colin cast a quick peek at her. "Don't mention this to anyone."

"Yes, Master!" you reply.

Colin entered the dim hallway and made his way back to his room.

Colin sat at the desk as it was still early.

On the desk, "The Chronicles of the Glorious Empire" is open.

Although Colin remembered reading this novel as a child, his memory was now fuzzy.

Colin made the decision to conduct more research while travelling through time in order to have a deeper understanding of this society and discover any indications that vampires may have existed.

However, this ultimately serves no use.

The text makes absolutely no mention of vampires.

Colin fortunately gained nothing. He could examine the development of this human empire.

Garna Lorenzo, the mythical knight who served the Lord of Glory, brought about the union of the human species, founded the Glory Empire, and rose to power more than 1,500 years ago.

Garner canonised the six paladins under his command as dukes, instructed them to garrison in all directions, and regularly expanded their domains in order to fend off the outside adversaries circling the empire.

After countless years, just four of the original six Dukes are still alive.

Among the four dukes, Duke Hilde presently controls the northern frontier, where Colin is located.

The Trolls formerly ruled the North, but the Hilde family had long since drove them farther north to the Ice fields of the Sky.

The trolls are determined to retake this lush land and set out on a southern expedition nearly every year because they are unwilling to give up.

This year is no different.

Baron Angelet, Colin's father, is presently engaged in combat.

The candlestick on the desk was extinguished as the night deepened, and the bedroom was silent.

Only Colin's calm, even breathing could be heard, and a distant owl's hoot could be heard outside Grey Castle.

A mysterious dark shadow suddenly materialized at Colin's bedside as the moonlight was obscured by thick clouds.

He glanced at Colin, who was fast asleep, and a look of uncertainty crossed his face.

Because he was certain that he had stabbed Colin in the chest the previous evening.

Why did you not perish?

Black Shadow was totally perplexed.

He didn't pause, though.

Colin's chest was slowly pierced by the knife as it was silently drawn out.

He instantly recalled what someone had said to him earlier:

Some people have right-handed hearts, though most people have left-handed hearts.

The dagger in his hand was therefore silently transferred to the right this time.

"Chi!"

Colin was struck hard in the chest by the dagger.

Colin was startled out of his dream by the severe pain. His mouth was suddenly forcefully grabbed by a pair of large hands just as he was about to scream.

"Woo...Woo...Woo..."

Colin gaped in fear as he fixed his attention on the assassin in front of him.

He knew who he was!

After some time, Colin's struggle started to get easier.

However, the shadow maintained its vigilance.

He left his hand off Colin's mouth after waiting for a full ten minutes.

Then, he pulled Colin's chest-mounted blade from his body and stabbed him once more in the throat.

Now you ought to perish.
