Fiorella Ferraz stood in her bedroom, contemplating her plan to escape. Jared, her fiancé, had joined her after changing into jeans but still shirtless. He sat on the edge of the bed, and she tried to maintain eye contact with his green eyes.
"I'll be quick. How can I leave without the security guards seeing me?" Jared began to chuckle.
"Does Rapunzel want to escape? My father suffocates everyone."
"Don't talk about your father like that, Jared," Fiorella said, and he immediately stopped laughing.
"Fine, forgive me. But there's no way to sneak out, especially with a security guard at your boot."
"Yeah."
"Do you want to go out alone?"
I looked at him and could read his thoughts. He thinks I'll go out and be with another man, even though I'm engaged to him. Well, he's right.
"It's not that, Jared. I just wanted to go out alone. It must be nice to be free."
"Fiorella," he leaned in closer, and I could smell the soap on his skin. My arms started tingling. "It's okay if you want to go out. I trust you."
"Trust me?" I don't even trust myself.
"Yes. I'm not the kind of man who forbids a woman from having fun with her friends," he said, placing his hand on my face. "You seem so sweet, it's a shame your father has deprived you of so much."
"I have to agree with that."
"At 8:00pm, they switch shifts. The gates are left with only two guards for about 15 minutes, and then the night shift comes in, and then it's screwed."
"Only two guards, Jared? How am I supposed to get past them?" He thought for a few seconds, and I interrupted his thoughts.
"What if I give them something to eat, like a sleeping pill or something?" I suggested, and Jared started laughing again.
"They won't fall asleep in 15 minutes, and even if they did, the others would arrive, trigger the alert, and it would be chaos. By the time they prove that A is not B, there will be shooters all over the house."
"So, there's no way?"
"There is a way, but it might not work."
"What way?"
"I'll help you 'escape'," he said with a cute smile. I looked away from Jared. He's very handsome, but I don't want to fall in love. Maybe after the wedding, but not now.
"How will you help?" I asked.
"I'll tell you, but what about your security guard?"
"I'll handle him."
"If the powerful boss finds out, we're screwed."
"He won't find out if it's up to me, Fiorella. If he looks at the cameras, he'll know what we did."
"Wow, I'm feeling like the Jonas Brothers right now."
"James Bond, crazy." We started laughing at my comment.
I started to feel good about Jared. He's completely different from his father. An idea began to form in my mind. Maybe we would make a great couple. Who would've thought that my own fiancé would help me sneak out of the house?
I'm in the shower, filled with anxiety. My plan and Jared's plan have to work. I'm completely anxious, not just because of these reasons, but because I'm going out alone for the first time in my life. I'm going to a club, I'm going to drink and dance. I want to let myself go as much as possible, maybe it'll be the first and last time before the wedding.
I spend hours in the shower, shaving, washing my hair thoroughly. I dress in regular clothes so Blake won't suspect anything. I take the crushed sleeping pill I made and put it in my pocket, then I go down to the kitchen for afternoon coffee. I told Grace that I was hungry, so she prepared some coffee.
"Dinner is almost ready."
"Oh, I'm not going to have dinner tonight, Grace."
She finished and left, and Blake is at the door.
"BLAKE?" He entered at once. "Grace made a lot of pancakes, could you help me eat?"
"I'm not hungry, miss, thank you!"
"Alright." I sit down to eat.
"She made coffee?"
"She did, yes."
"Can I have a cup? I love her coffee."
"Of course you can." He fills a cup of coffee, blows on it, and takes a sip. I look at him from the corner of my eye. He takes another large sip.
"Was this coffee made just now?"
"It was, why?"
"Just curious."
I'm in my room waiting for Blake to fall asleep with the "drugged coffee". What man can resist coffee? I'm completely ready. I put on a short black dress with a low-cut neckline. In the movies I've seen, women look beautiful. Jared must be almost here. It's almost 8:00 pm. Before that, I told Loretha that I was going to bed early, so I wouldn't have dinner. The whole day has passed and there's no sign of Argo Romanov, it's even better that he's not here. He won't even notice that I'm not at home.
I startle when I hear a knock on the door.
"Fiorella?" It's Jared's voice. I put on a robe and open the door. "Aren't you ready yet?" I open the robe and show him my outfit. Jared's eyes lock onto my body. I can't help but smile in satisfaction.
"Jared?" I do the same thing he did to me earlier, calling him to wake up from the hypnosis. He blinks and looks at me.
"Where's your security guard?"
"I don't know, isn't he here?" I look through the door, Blake isn't here. "Damn it, Jared, he was supposed to faint, not disappear."
"Even better, sweetheart. If he fainted, my father would find out. Come." He takes my hand.
"Wait." I grab my purse with my phone and lock the door from the outside, following Jared to the back door, it's a parking lot. "What are we doing here?"
"You wouldn't mind getting in the trunk, would you?"
"What? Like this?"
"There's no other way, babe."
"It's okay, let's go."
"Just wait 5 more minutes."
"I wonder if Blake died?"
"What did you do?"
"I put the entire pack of sleeping pills in his coffee."
"Damn! If he dies, it'll be a problem. It's strictly forbidden to kill a soldier without Capo's authorization."
"Don't joke, Jared."
"Relax, the guy won't die from a pill, I mean, all the pills." He laughs and helps me get into the car trunk.
When he closes it, I find myself in a dark trembling space. He starts driving, stops, I hear some voices, and then he starts driving again. It doesn't take more than 2 minutes before he stops the car.
"Are you okay?" he asks, opening the door.
"I'm fine."
"Come on, sit in the front seat."
"No, Jared. It's fine here for me."
He insists on taking me, I sit in the front and ask to be dropped off on a specific street. The city is bustling, it's still early. Australia is beautiful. I feel so light and happy to finally breathe freely and do whatever I want. I can talk to whoever I want, drink whatever I want. I can get close to any man without my father stopping me. I feel like I own the world, at least for today.
"Will you be okay? Promise me you'll take care of yourself."
"I'll take care of myself, Jared. Thank you so much, I won't forget what you've done for me."
"If something happens to you, I'll never forgive myself for it."
"I know how to take care of myself." I give him my best smile. We exchange a tender glance, and finally, he also smiles, showing his white straight teeth. I can swear that for a few seconds there was a spark between us. "Okay, I better go."
"Call me, if anything."
"Sure thing."
Jared speeds off. He dropped me off very close to the place I found on the internet. Since I don't know anything about this country, I had to search for good nightclub recommendations on Google, and this one had excellent reviews.
I walk a few blocks and arrive at the venue. The outside is brightly lit with neon lights. The music is blasting inside. There's a small line outside and some security guards checking something.
"ID," they ask when it's my turn. "German?"
"Yes."
They looked at me, then at my ID.
"You can go in." They hand back my ID and signal for me to enter.
I had to get in another line to pay the entrance fee. When I finally entered, a shock takes over my chest. People are dancing wildly. The music is very loud, lights are flashing. It's just like in the movies, I love it. Some guys pass by me, smiling. Today is the day I'll be happy, I want to remember this day for the rest of my life, the first day I went out and could live my own way.
