I entered my room, extremely satisfied, and lay on the bed, thinking about all that jealousy. That could only be jealousy, there's no other explanation. I lay there for nearly an hour when Loretha knocked on the door, calling me for dinner.
The dinner table looks beautiful, and the smell of the food is great.
"Did you cook, Loretha?"
"You can just call me Loretha, Fiorella. And yes, I enjoy cooking, it's my hobby."
"And do you work outside?"
"I'm a ballet teacher."
"Ballet?" I started to laugh.
"Just kidding. But if I tell you, you won't believe it."
"I really want to know."
"I'm a teacher."
"I don't believe it."
"I think we have a lot in common. I always had a dream, and I could only fulfill it after my father passed away. He left me the Romanov name as inheritance, and luckily, I fell in love with Argo and we got married. He took charge of everything, since I'm an only child."
"So you never liked it either?"
"I don't think 'like' is the right word, I wanted to pursue my dream. Even Argo was against it at first, but he eventually got used to it."
"I would have never guessed, Loretha."
"And what about your dream, Fiorella?"
"I don't know." I paused to think. "Honestly, I don't know, Loretha. I grew up rejecting the family I was born into, and I never reflected on my own life and future. Mr. Adalberto Ferraz always molded me the way he wanted."
"We're nobody without dreams, Fiorella."
Argo entered the dining room and sat on the other side of the table. He looks very handsome in black tuxedo pants, the fabric is very fine. I noticed his package between his legs. A white t-shirt cling tightly to his body. The tattoo on his arm became clearly visible.
"Where's Jared?"
"I'm here." Jared came in and sat down next to me. "Hi, beautiful."
"Hi, Jared." This boy is not too bad either.
"I'll serve us." Loretha started serving the food on our plates.
The atmosphere is a bit tense, I don't know why. Argo doesn't even look at me.
"Why is the door to your room broken, Jared?"
With his mother's question, Jared and his father exchanged looks.
"The 'I can do anything' man broke it."
"Your father?"
"Does anyone else here think they're the owner of the world, mother?"
"Watch the way you talk, kid!" Argo stared at his son.
"Jared, respect your father. Why did you break the door to Jared's room, Argo?"
Argo looked at me for the first time and then averted his eyes to his son. "Jared didn't want to open it, right, my son?"
"And it had to be broken?"
"The food is excellent, Loretha. How did you make these fish and chips?" The atmosphere was already too tense, so I pretended to be interested in the recipe to ease the awkward situation.
It worked really well, because Loretha started explaining how she made the recipe. And she really cooks very well. We ate in total silence for a few minutes until a tall, dark-skinned man appeared.
"Boss, you called me?" A man in a black suit entered the dining room and clasped his hands behind his back.
Loretha and Jared stared at Argo, not understanding what was happening.
"I called. Fiorella, Blake will be your security."
"Security?" I was startled.
"Argo, why does she need a security guard?" Loretha asked.
"She wants to go out, Loretha. It's dangerous to walk alone out there."
"You want to control Fiorella's every move, father." Jared raised his voice. "Why do you have to control everyone?"
"Fiorella." Loretha looked at me. "Argo is right, I don't agree with keeping you locked up here, if you want to go out, you can't walk alone out there."
"Does that mean I can leave this house whenever I want?" I became excited.
"Whenever you want is an exaggeration, Blake will be with you at all times."
Great! This is better than being forbidden to go out or relying on Argo's approval. I was happy, but it seems like Jared wasn't.
"Fiorella, he wants to control you, can't you see?"
"That's enough, my son. Why are you speaking like this?" Loretha asked and held her son's hand.
"Because your son is unreasonable."
"And you're always defending him." Jared stood up abruptly and left the dining room.
"I'll talk to him." Loretha followed him.
"You start tomorrow, Blake."
"Yes, sir." This Blake guy leaves and leaves us alone.
"I think you should treat your son better," said Argo, wiping the corner of his mouth with a napkin and looking at me.
"You don't know Jared. Do you understand why I need a security guard?" I nod, knowing that Argo has enemies.
"Your father entrusted you to my care until the wedding," he said, getting up from his chair and standing behind me. "Jared can't even take care of himself, how is he going to take care of you?" He leaned in close to my ear. "I forbid that boy from laying a hand on you, because he's not the right man for you, Fiorella."
