Episode 16

In the morning I woke up over the moon about the one special moment we had yesterday.

I take a quick shower and go downstairs in time to have breakfast with Edgar. This morning he has a lot of work at the company and that's exactly why I chose to just kiss him and let him rest well for today.

Edgar: Good morning, love.

Leandro: Good morning, my handsome.

I kiss Edgar, take my coffee, put it in the to-go cup and leave.

Yan: Love?

Edgar: Yes, Leandro and I have decided that we're going to make our marriage a real one.

Yan: Well, from your jealousy last night, I imagined you'd want to lock him up fast.

Edgar: I can't pretend anymore, he's my husband.

Yan looks at his boss with a sly smile.

At the restaurant, I tell Lucas with a smile on my face about the kiss Edgar and I shared yesterday, but he wasn't very happy.

Lucas: A kiss, Leandro? Seriously?

Leandro: Yes, and it was special.

Lucas: It would have been special if after the kiss, you had caressed each other and then ended up making out naked.

Leandro: I told you I'm not in a hurry.

Lucas: Okay, I respect that and I'm happy about the kiss.

The restaurant door opens and whoever walks through it leaves me speechless.

I duck under the counter and cower.

Luca: What was it?

Leandro: Please, take care of this customer, please.

It turns out that the customer was Mariano and I'm pretty sure he's here after me.

Luca goes and serves him for me.

Luca: What can I get you?

Mariano: Just a coffee.

Luca: Ok, coming right up.

Luca comes up to me and pretending he's just getting the coffee asks me to update him, because he's lost.

Luca: Who is this guy and why are you scared?

Leandro: He's the man who blackmailed me and made me marry him.

Luca: This was before Edgar?

I nod and Luca goes back to Mariano with coffee.

Mariano: Thank you... say, does a waiter named Leandro work here?

Lucas: Leandro? No, sir, it's just me and Tiago here, who happens to be late.

Mariano: Okay, thank you.

Lucas: Excuse me.

Mariano barely drinks his coffee and walks out the door, before leaving his payment and a 5 reais tip.

Lucas: Come on, tell me how that happened.

I had no choice, I had to open my life's book to Lucas.

Leandro: Before Edgar, I was sold to Eduardo, a man who seemed like a dream, but in the end only used and abused my feelings.

Lucas: He's your first husband, okay. Where does this guy fit in?

Leandro: He was Eduardo's lawyer who took advantage of my fragility to blackmail me, I am here free thanks to God and your driver who gave me a drug to make him sleep at his country house, that's when I broke free.

Lucas: So he's after you? Why don't you tell Edgar?

Leandro: I'm going to tell him, I'm just afraid he'll think I lured him here.

Lucas: No, of course he won't think that.

At lunchtime, instead of having dinner with my friend at our favorite diner, I go after Edgar at his office. I was scared to death of going home alone at night and who knows, Mariano catching me before I got into the car.

Driver: Are you okay, sir?

Leandro: Yes.

Driver: Are you sure?

Leandro: Yes, I am.

When I arrive at Edgar's company, I can see that besides being super luxurious, the people who work there are quite snobby too.

10 minutes later Edgar was able to see me with an apology.

Leandro: I need your help, Mariano is back.

Edgar: Mariano is the one you ran away from?

Leandro: Yes, I think he found me.

Edgar: I'll take care of him, personally.

Edgar gets up and leaves me alone in the room.

I get up and approach the glass, afraid of what Edgar might do. As I turn around, I see a picture of my son on my husband's desk, two pictures actually, one old and one updated.

Seeing my son already at 17 years old, I start to cry, it makes me emotional - I mean, it's my son and he is gorgeous.

Edgar returns with an angry look.

Leandro: What is this? Where did you get this?

Edgar approaches and picks up one of the pictures.

Edgar: This is your son, Zayn, isn't it?

Leandro: Yes, but how did you...

Edgar: I investigated your life before I actually chose you.

Leandro: You investigated?

Edgar: Yes, I needed to know who I was messing with.

Leandro: Don't you think I should too?

Edgar: You've known me for 2 years of engagement.

Leandro: Okay, but what do you want with Zayn?
