Chapter 34

The wedding would take place that very afternoon. From the hallway window, Augusto could see the intense activity in the garden. Workers were arranging flowers, setting up chairs, and adjusting decorative details. Curious — and restless — he went down for a closer look but left quickly when one of the decorators approached with a polite smile:

"Sir, would you like to change anything? It's your wedding too."

The words hit him like a punch. He didn't respond. He just turned on his heel and went back inside.

There wasn't much to do. He wandered aimlessly until he decided to go back upstairs. In the hallway, he ran into Pamela, who was carrying fresh linens.

"Good morning again, sir. Mr. Pietro's closet has been reorganized. If you need help moving or arranging your things, just let me know," she said with professional warmth.

Augusto frowned.

"My things?"

Pamela hesitated for a second, as if she assumed he already knew.

"Mr. Pietro asked me to clear out half the closet and make room for your clothes. I believe he wants you to move into the master bedroom."

Augusto felt a tightness in his chest. He'd completely forgotten about that detail. Pietro didn't intend to keep separate bedrooms. Of course not. He wanted everything — including Augusto's constant presence, day and night.

"Thank you, Pamela. I'll sort it out with him later," he replied, trying to keep his voice calm.

"One more thing, sir," Pamela added. "I'll need the suit you'll be wearing for the wedding so I can press it and have it ready."

Augusto sighed, feeling the weight of reality crash down on his shoulders once again. It still hadn't fully sunk in. He went to the room, handed over the suit, and as soon as Pamela left, he grabbed his phone and sent a message to Mark.
