Episode 5

“I heard Minseok helped Jaehyun the other day because he wasn’t able to walk”

“Eh maybe he’s the one who broke Jaehyun’s leg..”

“If that were the case, why would Minseok even bother to help him?

“Hmm you are right...Have you noticed how cheerful Minseok looks these days?? He’s so not like himself!”

“Maybe he’s changed for good this time....at least I hope so! I’ve been wanting to talk to him for so long and if that’s the case then I’ve hit the jackpot!”

“Don’t get your hopes high Mina, he’s like that only with Jaehyun”

“What’s so special about that Jaehyun anyway?? He always has that cold expression on his face and also I’m a girl so I’ll obviously be able to win Minseok in no time!! My charms are fatal to every man haha”

Minseok impatiently tapped on his desk as he looked over at Jaehyun who was fast asleep, just then the bell rang.

”Its lunch break! Finally!” He patted his stomach which had been grumbling for a while now. He wanted to run and get some food but then he glanced at Jaehyun. Should I ask him to come along? I've never seen him in the cafeteria.

Jaehyun hadn't slept well last night because of his mother, let's just say she broke another baseball bat. Jaehyun was in so much pain that he couldn't sleep, and his wounds wouldn't stop bleeding. Only after a long time did he manage to tear a few pieces of cloth and stop the bleeding and by the time he finished, it was already morning.

Soon the class was empty and only Minseok and Jaehyun remained. Minseok pulled up a chair and sat in front of Jaehyun’s desk. He stared at Jaehyun, he had seen this before, just a few days ago, in the infirmary. But this time felt different, Jaehyun’s skin was glowing under the radiant sun. His eyebrows were sharp as usual, his lips seemed to have softened. His hair covered parts of his forehead.

He looks so approachable when he’s asleep...I want to touch his hair. Minseok thought as his hand reached out, so soft. His hair is the complete opposite of mine, his black and mine white. I wonder what his first impression of me was... Did he also think I was a silver-haired freak?

Minseok’s actions couldn't have been any gentler, he took care not to wake up Jaehyun. When he was done playing with Jaehyun’s hair, Minseok’s eyes fell upon his hands.

His hands are bruised again, Minseok thought as he let out a sigh, I wonder who did this to him? But why do I care what this guy does? Why can't I stop-

Jaehyun blinked his eyes a few times as he woke up, Minseok was about to run away when Jaehyun held his hand and pulled him back to his chair.

”Why are you running away?”

”I am not!” Minseok rebuked, his face hanging low in embarrassment. What was I even doing?? I must be crazy!!

”I am sorry, it just seemed like that”

This guy! Does he really not understand or does he act innocent just to irritate me?? Of course, I was running away! Even though I did nothing wrong...

”Let's go” Minseok stood up and pulled Jaehyun by his hand, ”Its lunch time, my treat”

Jaehyun didn't say anything and followed him obediently. Minseok had completely forgotten about the incident that took place a few days ago, in the storeroom.

”So what are you going to have?” Minseok asked as he handed Jaehyun a plate, ”I know this is your first time in the cafeteria”

”I’ll take whatever you like”

Whatever I l-like?? Why?

”Fine” Minseok put some rice and curry in his plate and did the same for Jaehyun, ”dont complain later if you don't like the food”

They sat down at a table together. Minseok sat still in wait to see Jaehyun’s reaction as he took the first bite. Will he like it?

However, even after a few bites, Jaehyun’s expression remained the same. Minseok sighed, he shouldn't have expected any reaction from this robot.

”Thank you for the meal.” Jaehyun said after he finished and turned around to leave.

Where are his manners? Shouldn't he wait for me to finish?? Minseok glared at Jaehyun’s back as though shooting invisible arrows. Surprisingly Jaehyun turned around and came back to his seat.

”I thought you were leaving?” Minseok asked as he angrily took a spoonful of rice in his mouth.

”No. I'll wait for you to finish, Minseok”

Minseok almost choked on his food, Why does he call me by my first name so casually? We are not even that...close yet.

The next day

Time is of the essence. I see you've gotten distracted, I can help you get rid of it if you want. Jaehyun, this is a warning. Contact me immediately.

Jaehyun woke up with a jolt, he was covered in sweat. He grabbed his bag and ran out of his house, he was short of breath but that didn't matter. If he didn't complete the first ritual then he’d let out something evil into this world.

*The blood of a **. I just need enough blood to cover my hands. The school is the perfect place.*

Minseok ran into his Boss, Song Minho, outside the school. ”How’s it going, Boss?? I haven't seen you in a while”

”Hey! It's Minseok!! It's been a while” Said Minho with a smile, ”I hope you haven't gotten yourself into any trouble lately”

”Of course not, I'm being really careful just like you said”

”The punks of Namsan high school haven't been stirring up any trouble in our area. Just like I had thought, they really are dogs” Song Minho said with a laugh, ”and you haven't been coming to the storeroom to smoke? Eh don't tell me you got yourself a girlfriend??”

Minseok rubbed the back of his embarrassed, ”Haha not at all! I didn't even realise it myself! I'll meet you today in the storeroom during the third period... SEE YOU THEN!” Minseok ran at full speed towards his classroom, I'll be late to class!!
