I was so moved by the expression of his feelings and by Master Tirion's attitude that I didn't know what to say. I knew that when a couple recognized each other, love happened at first sight, but the two of us already knew each other and were so opposed that it was difficult to suppose that we were destined, let alone that we would fall in love.
Suddenly, I felt such a strong discomfort that I jumped off his lap and ran to the bathroom. I threw up all the breakfast. The nausea was so strong that I could barely hold myself up on my knees, leaning over the toilet.
Derick followed me and helped, holding my hair and keeping my head up until the sickness passed. He helped me up, offered me a mouthwash, and washed my face gently. I rinsed my mouth, dried myself with the towel he gave me, and hugged him around the waist. He picked me up and carried me to bed.
"Do you have any idea what that was?" he asked me.
I don't know if you'll like to know.
"I do, my companion," I looked at him, serious, and caressed his face. "I'm pregnant."
"But how is that possible? It's too early for you to be feeling sick."
"I don't know why, I just know it is! Actually, Rose told me. You didn't want it to happen? Don't you want to have puppies?" I asked, my face filled with concern.
"Of course I did, my love. The sooner, the better. I want to fill this house with puppies!!!" he said and laughed, hugging me. "Will they resemble the father or the mother? I'll love it if they look like me, I can already imagine it, our puppies running around the house and causing trouble."
"And if they look like me?" He is so excited that I'm afraid he won't like them to have my different appearance.
"They'll still be ours, and I will love them very much, just as I already love you." It seems like a dream, but I'm suspicious of such excessive affections.
"A cat that has been scalded is afraid of cold water," in this case, a different she-wolf who has always been rejected because of her progenitor's mistake. It's hard to believe in someone else's kindness and love, especially when the same person has treated her with so much contempt her whole life.
"What are you thinking, that you suddenly became so serious?" He noticed my discomfort.
"I think all of this is very new, and I'm not used to affection and declarations of love. I'm afraid it's all just a dream, and I'll wake up and everything will go back to how it was before," I said, expressing my fears honestly.
"I understand, and I can't guarantee that we won't argue at some point, it happens between couples, but I can guarantee that what I feel is real, and you will always have this love and affection from me."
I looked at him, feeling the truth in his words. There's nothing better than giving time to time, I'll wait and see.
Lizandra
After we calmed down, we got dressed and went downstairs to the living room. We needed to continue our conversation and clarify things from the past. When we arrived there, I saw that it wouldn't be an easy conversation because my father, who didn't accept me as his daughter, was waiting for us in the room with an unfriendly expression.
"Good morning, Alpha, good morning, Luna!" he made a slight bow in front of each of us, greeting politely but without any emotion. "You asked for me, sir?"
Derick accompanied me to the sofa, waited for me to sit, and turning to his beta, replied, "Yes, Nestor, I asked you to come, first to request that you make the preparations for Luna's presentation to the Pack. Everyone should attend. Please have a seat," he requested and indicated a armchair in front of the sofa for him to sit, then he sat next to me.
"We need to clarify some things," the Alpha spoke with authority to his beta and not to his father-in-law.
Derick narrated what Master Tirion had told him, and my father became nervous, his face started to turn red, and the irritation was apparent.
"I ask that you calm down, Nestor, we're not here to accuse anyone of anything, we just want to clarify the facts. Do you agree?" Surprisingly, Derick seemed very calm.
Nestor took a deep breath and nodded, still avoiding direct eye contact with me. He was my father, I knew that, but he refused to accept it in any way.
"Then, I would like Lizandra..."
Derick was suddenly interrupted by the beta's angry response.
"Don't call her that in front of me, she doesn't deserve to be called my mother's name," he stated, clearly expressing his offense.
Nestor was furious. Even he reacted this way, and I could only imagine how the Pack would react. It was all his fault for never clarifying or seeking the truth. He didn't believe my mother, he didn't want to know me, and now he was about to discover the worst revelation of all. I had no idea how he would react.
"I have asked you to calm down, Nestor. Now I order you to control yourself," the Alpha commanded, exerting his dominance.
"Lizandra, please tell your side of the story," the Alpha requested of me.
Still seated, with my hands folded in my lap, I looked at my father. With my head held high, I began to speak.
"I won't talk about what I've lived through or complain about what I shouldn't have gone through. It no longer matters. But in order to move forward peacefully with our lives and for the future of our family," I said as I caressed my flat stomach, which didn't go unnoticed by my father, "I will tell you what I discovered:
"When I was old enough to understand the insults thrown at me, I became curious. I had already learned about genetic inheritance in school, and although I didn't understand family trees or bloodline inheritances, I went to the library to research. It took me two months of research before I realized that the information I needed was locked in the historical section of the Pack's documents. All the precious records of origin and significant events were there."
At this point, Derick interrupted me with an explanation.
"Entry to that room is only permitted with my authorization. I hold the key, and I don't recall you requesting it," he asked, curious.
He looked at me with a furrowed brow, as if he was looking at someone strange and not at me. I didn't like seeing the suspicion in his expression, but I continued with my story.
"I did request it, and it was given to me because it was a serious case of paternity. You don't remember because you only knew me as someone strange, you didn't know my real name. Later, you can check the library's records book. Can I continue?"
