The sun rose up in the clear blue sky. Only a few clouds were present and scattered in the heavens as if the hot ball of fire was especially domineering that day and scared away the other clouds.
The sunshine went pass through the glass window. The curtains were opened, giving way to the sunshine. Unimpeded, the bright light fell on the person sleeping in the bed.
Sensing the presence of morning light, thick eyelashes fluttered and the eyelids laggardly lifted up, uncovering dark brown irises.
The person yawned and a tear escaped from the corner of her eye. She stretched her arms up while absentmindedly looking around the room. Then it finally hit her.
Last night, she arrived in this world. She lost her life in an accident and when she woke up, she found herself in someone else's body in an another world. Well, she didn't right away figure out that she had transmigrated. She made up many assumptions before she realized the truth.
She picked up the phone and checked the time. It was still early in the morning. She thought that because she had cried a lot during the night, she would woke up late but she did not. It must because of her new body's body clock. Only her eyelids felt a little heavy to open. "They must be puffy," she thought, pertaining to her eyes.
It was Sunday. The following day, she was scheduled to sign a contract with Starlight Entertainment, a big entertainment company in the country. The host's two years contract with her previous agency, Zhonglin Talent Agency, had expired a week ago so she was currently under the guidance of no company.
The host had just won a best supporting actress award and she became more popular recently due to that. Naturally, her previous talent agency did not want to let her go. They offered her great benefits but she declined to stay in the company for a meat pie had fallen out of the sky.
(Meat pie had fallen out of the sky— an unexpected windfall/opportunity)
A week before the award's night, she received a call from an agent of Starlight Entertainment. The agent knew about her expiring contract with Zhonglin Talent Agency so he contacted her in behalf of the company, offering a contract once her contract with her agency lapsed. She did not outrightly accepted the offer and gave the agent a safe answer: to give her time to think about it.
Actually, during her second year under Zhonglin's supervision, she received fewer works because new younger actresses had signed in to the company and the company paid more attention to them. She was only given the scripts that those ladies refused to take. She was like the least favorite child in the family that received the toys her siblings did not like.
It was only because a director she had worked with before, who had a good impression of her, offered her a role in his film that she was able to get a good role. Unexpectedly, it was the said role that had turned her into an award winning actress.
When she won the award, her company's attitude towards her did a 180 degree turn. Although, the host knew that the sudden change in attitude was pretty normal as people are likely to fawn over someone who had achieved something great, she was still disapproved of it and that drove her into accepting the Starlight Entertainment's offer.
"Tomorrow is the day," said Xue Yanyue as she dried her face with a clean towel. She had just washed up and gotten out of the bathroom that was at the end of the passageway.
She was distressed. When she died, she was a white-collar worker. She had no experience in acting. She only liked to watch dramas and movies primarily because of the handsome actors and secondly because she was lacking in the love aspect in life. Only by watching them, she could feel a bit romance. And if she was to continue the career of the host, the best supporting actress would turn into a flower vase.
(Flower vase— A beautiful person without intellect, talent, skills, and heart to match his outward appearance)
"It's better to quit," she said, her face serious.
What she hated the most was trouble. If her secret instant child would be discovered, it only spelled trouble in bold and capitalized form. She wanted to avoid it and to quit acting was the best solution she had in mind.
When she went out of the bedroom, she took a quick look at every area in the apartment and had her breakfast afterwards.
Aside from the bedroom, the apartment had three more rooms: a study room; a bathroom; and a vacant room. The living room was connected to the kitchen and dining area. There was also a balcony adjacent to the living room. There was not much to see so she finished checking them all quickly.
Her meal consisted of a simple egg toast and orange juice. She wanted to eat a sumptuous meal but her expectations shattered to see that the fridge was almost empty, containing only bottles of drinking water and juices, bread, eggs and butter; and when she was preparing to cook, she discovered there were no cooking utensils. Fortunately, there was an oven, allowing her to make a simple dish.
The host was a hardworking person. Once she set her mind to a task, she would definitely accomplish it despite the hardships she would face in the process. No wonder despite the struggles, she was still able to become an actress.
Although, the host became freer because of the less projects she received, most of her idle time was spent on reviewing the videos of her acting performance and watching award winning actors and actresses' dramas and movies for reference. That was how passionate she was in acting. However, she often forgot the necessities at home.
"This place is pointlessly spacious," she said, gazing at the living room. There were only a sofa set, coffee table and flat screen tv in the area. Not a thing was even hanged in the walls. "There's a lot of shopping to be done."
Then, the screen of phone on the table brightened up and at the same time, the sound of piano playing rang in the room. When she picked up the phone to see who was calling, she was surprised: it was Mr. Gu, Starlight Entertainment's agent.
