Episode 4

Sofia:

I try to open my eyes, but they feel too heavy, and I must admit that the grass is too soft and comfortable to want to wake up. Yet, despite being comfortable, my body hurts like hell, so it's better to keep moving and find a pack that can offer me shelter.

I slowly open my eyes, and at first, I don't recognize where I am, but as I focus my vision, I see that I'm in an enormous room, and what I thought was grass is actually a soft, huge bed where five people could easily fit without any problem. I quickly get up and panic at the thought that Alpha Gustavo found me and now I’m in one of his rooms. I start to feel overwhelming fear, so I retreat to a corner of the room, pulling my legs to my chest. I don’t want to be near that monster again; I don’t want him to keep hurting me. My heart is racing, I feel dizzy, and my chest hurts, making it difficult to breathe. I try every means to calm myself, but I can’t. I hear the door swing open, and I see a very beautiful girl approaching me, but I try to back away even though I'm already against the wall. I don’t want to be hurt again.

**Romina:** "Calm down; I won't hurt you\," she says\, holding her hands up. "I just want to help. My name is Romina Miron\, and this is my house." She approaches me\, "Breathe in slowly through your nose\, take a slow breath in and exhale. Don’t stop breathing as I say; you will be okay here; you’re safe."

Her words sounded sincere, and for some reason, I didn’t feel in danger with her—instead, I felt secure. I took several deep breaths like Romina instructed, keeping my eyes locked on hers, and they were a lovely shade of green, exuding both safety and peace.

**Romina:** "You're doing really well; take your time. And when you are calmer\, I’ll help you get back to the bed."

**Sofia:** "How long have I been here?"

**Romina:** "I’ll answer everything you want\, but I need you to be calmer first. Look at the doctor over there\," she says\, pointing to a man I hadn't seen when I entered. "He’s the family doctor\, and he needs to check on you to know when you’re feeling better."

**Sofia:** "No\, please!!!"

My breathing started to accelerate again, but Romina urged me to calm down and breathe as she'd instructed, and so I did. Once I was calmer, Romina helped me to my feet, and that’s when I realized I was wearing unicorn pajamas. I turned to look at Romina, who only smiled at me, saying nothing about my attire.

She helped me settle onto the bed, adjusting the pillows for my comfort. The doctor approached, and before Romina stepped aside, she took hold of her wrist.

**Sofia:** "Please\, don’t go."

**Romina:** "I’ll be here. I won’t leave\, but I need to let them examine you to make sure you’re alright."

She took only a few steps away but didn’t stop watching me. The doctor came closer and, with utmost care, began to examine me and ask questions.

**Doctor:** "Hello\, I’m Dr. Raul Saenz. Tell me how you’re feeling."

**Romina:** "My body hurts\, like I’ve been crushed under many elephants."

**Doctor:** "Have you ever been crushed by many elephants?"

I knew it was impossible for elephants to crush me and me still be alive, but the doctor followed my description of how I felt.

**Sofia:** "No\, but I imagine that’s how it must feel."

**Doctor:** "Okay\, could you please tell me your name and how old you are?"

**Sofia:** "My name is Sofia\, and I’m... Excuse me\, what day is it?"

**Doctor:** "Today is January 30th."

**Sofia:** "Have I been unconscious for so long? I turned 17 on January 28th."

**Doctor:** "Then we must congratulate you on your birthday. Now tell me\, do you remember how you ended up in that forest?"

**Sofia:** "I wish I could forget\, but I do remember. I was running away from someone."

**Romina:** "Was that person the one who hurt you so badly? Who abused you?"

**Sofia:** "How do you know that...? Oh God\, I can’t bear to look at you. I feel so dirty and so worthless."

Romina: Calm down, Sofia. The doctor had to examine you because you lost blood, and we wanted to find out where it came from. That’s when we discovered the damage that person caused you, but I want you to know that you shouldn’t feel this way. You are not to blame for what happened to you.

Doctor: Would you like to talk to a doctor who is really kind? She could help you get through what you experienced.

Sofia: I don’t want to be a bother. So many people have helped me these days, and I need to get to a place…

I couldn’t finish my sentence because a wave of pain surged through my body, a heat coursing through me, twisting me in the bed from the intense agony. I knew my wolf wanted to break free.

Romina: What’s happening, doctor? What’s wrong?

But before the doctor could say anything, I spoke despite the pain I felt.

Sofia: I need to get out of here. My… my wolf wants to come out.

Romina: We need to let her out; she'll destroy everything, and my mother wouldn’t be very happy.

I felt the doctor lift me in his arms as Romina opened the door to carry me out of the room and down a flight of stairs leading to the main door.

Romina: Why didn’t you say this sooner? We could have helped you; we’re wolves too.

Sofia: Do you go around telling people you’re a she-wolf?

Romina: True, I apologize for my silly question.

The doctor exited the house, or mansion, and without delay, he set me down on the floor. Moments passed, and I felt my bones begin to break, the pain unbearable, making me doubt how much longer I could endure it.

But like magic, the pain vanished, and my bones no longer hurt. I looked at my hands to find they were no longer hands but light gray paws. I rose slowly and turned to see Romina and the doctor, both looking astonished. Also, there were two very handsome men, who were staring at me with… love? And from what I could see, they were being held back by Romina and the doctor.

I inhaled the air and was enveloped by the sweetest scent I had ever encountered—chocolate and lilies, but also chocolate and damp earth.

>Nala: Mates\, look for them<

\ data-tomark-pass data-tomark-pass data-tomark-pass >Nala: You don’t know that. They can help us get through this<

\ data-tomark-pass data-tomark-pass data-tomark-pass >Sofia: Wait, why do you say Mates? Are there two?<

\ data-tomark-pass data-tomark-pass data-tomark-pass >Nala: Yes, there are two. We’re lucky, but I’ll give you space to accept it. I know this is overwhelming for you right now, so let’s get moving<

I closed the link with my wolf and inhaled the scent of my mates again, searching for the source of those exquisite aromas. I noticed it was the two men I had seen before, now restrained by their shoulders. My gaze locked onto theirs, and without a second thought, I bolted away from them, putting as much distance between us as possible. In that moment, I couldn’t face them, especially knowing they were aware of what had happened to me. I already carried enough pain without adding the sting of rejection.
