Ch 4

The school ended. I took my bag and carried it on my back. It was time to leave.

When I crossed the school gate, i saw a familiar car standing outside. When i looked carefully, it was brother todd's. I wanted to jump out of happiness because he had come to pick me. I ran towards him.

He was smoking, inside the car. He opened the door for me from inside, "Just don't tell anyone okay? Its a secret between us." He said in his deep voice.

I nodded as i got in car. Why did he not want me to tell anyone that he dropped and picked me. because he was embarrassed of being called a nice person? Strange, he was.

We reached home. Mom was reading newspaper. "Oh, you're back!" She said.

I nodded abd smiled. "Who dropped you? I heard car's sound."

"Uh...my...my friend's mother. They were going from the same way." I lied and smiled.

She nodded, "Oh...but i was about to come and pick you."

"But its okay now. I'm home already." I smiled and hugged her.

I looked outside, because brother todd hadn't come inside. I realised that he had left to somewhere again. Where's he go. Who knew.

It was midnight when my thirsty throat woke me up. I was walking out of the bedroom, towards kitchen when i saw a dark shadow. I was about to scream when my mouth was shut with a strong hand.

it was brother Todd, "Were you just about to scream? Stop, its me."

He moved his hand away. I sighed. "Its you. But why?"

"What do you mean why? I was just drunk so i wanted to sober up. Needed some water." He replied.

"But why in dark? You could at least turn on the lights."

"Who on earth would want to see lights when drunk? You don't understand, kid."

"Still, what if i just got heart attack because of you?"

"Why? Were you scared?"

"I wasn't."

"Just admit it that you were Sam. After all you're a kid. I won't mind that." Brother todd was really annoying me.

I just didn't reply anymore because he was drunk. I just drank water and left to my room.

That night, someone suddenly got inside my comforter. I was startled. I was about to, scream when i heard, "Please don't scream again. I'm just here to sleep."

"Brother, why are you here? You've got your own bed?" I whispered aggressively. I really hated his behaviour.

"But, i want to sleep with someone. He...he scares me." Brother said. It confused me.

"What did you say?" I asked. When i moved a bit, my hand touched him accidentally. He was burning up. Sick, he was sick. I immediately got up. "Brother, you're getting sick! See how much your body is burning." It just started burning suddenly so i was scared. Because some time ago, in the kitchen his body felt normal. "I'll go tell mom."

"No!" He grabbed me by my arm. "Don't. Don't do that." He could barely throw words out of his mouth. It must be hard.
