Odette and the prince were waiting in a room where they were served some food, while two knights guarded the door.
"I don't understand why they won't let us in; we are family," Odette said.
"It doesn't matter, it's something they need to deal with among themselves," replied the prince.
"I'm tired, I want to sleep," Odette complained, resting her head on the prince's shoulder. They had been inside for almost an hour when the three of them finally came out. Odette immediately approached to inquire about what had happened.
"The ceremony will take place tomorrow night, and the day after we'll leave," the prince explained.
"Of course, father. Congratulations on your wedding, sister. And you know, if the young Duke deceives you, you can trust me," Noelle chimed in.
"I'll make sure to keep you informed of all his affairs, so you can share the gossip with your friends," Odette responded sarcastically.
"Noelle! That's enough, don't speak to her that way," the prince reprimanded.
"Sir, I ask for more respect towards my fiancée," Jane intervened.
"I only speak the truth," Noelle retorted.
Jane, who was nearby, interrupted, saying they would be taken to their rooms. Jane led them down the corridor to an area with different rooms dedicated to the guests, each having their own. The Baroness immediately requested a separate room, refusing to sleep in the same one as her husband. In her bedroom, Noelle opened the curtains and the large window overlooking the garden. The moon was shining brilliantly. She stretched a little and laid down, gazing out the window. The moment she had been waiting for was finally arriving; tomorrow she would finally meet Raizel.
It was late when the sound of galloping horses broke the silence. Odette, who was still awake, got out of bed, finding it strange that someone would be riding a horse at this hour of the night. Luckily, her room overlooked the front courtyard, so she leaned out of the window, observing a tall young man with a muscular body dismounting from a horse. His black hair shimmered under the moonlight. Odette was captivated by his attractiveness, and she couldn't help but compare it to the prince's. She wondered who this young man could be.
He raises his gaze while she leans out the window, the boy only smiles and lowers his gaze to head towards the entrance as a servant takes care of the horse. Odette blushed due to the boy's smile.
"No, Odette, you have the prince... you can't lose him... it was hard for you to take him from that wicked woman."
The next day, preparations began for the wedding ceremony. Jane was with Noelle and the Baroness to help. It would be a small ceremony in the castle chapel. Odette overheard and smiled. That wicked woman would only have a simple wedding with a man who hasn't shown his face — he must be ugly but manages to attract women because of his status.
"Father, what about the grand Duchess? She hasn't shown up."
"The grand Duchess passed away a long time ago. The grand Duke hasn't remarried. Odette, avoid asking that question."
"Yes, father, I'm sorry. But what about the young Duke? It's his wedding, and he hasn't shown up to meet the family."
"Jane said he is resting. He arrived late and exhausted."
"I understand. It's a pity not to have met him earlier."
Francis went to greet the grand Duke as his father was a good friend of his.
"So, you are also engaged to the Baron's other daughter."
"Yes, she is a very kind girl. She is now with her family, but I will introduce her to you before we leave."
"I would love to meet her."
"You're not missing out on anything, father. She is a boring girl with a foolish expression."
Raizel entered the room and stood at the door, smirking. Francis was annoyed by the comment about his fiancée.
"Don't say that. Miss Odette is a great girl, kind and beautiful."
"Sure, I could prove to you that none of them are good if I wanted to."
"Shut your mouth, show some respect for the prince's fiancée."
"Sorry, old man, but I saw her, and from a distance, you can tell what she is like."
Francis elbows him as Raizel stands close to him, then he leaves, allowing the grand Duke to talk to his son. He seemed still angry about forcing him into marriage. Everything was ready; the altar was set, and the priest was present. In the front row, the grand Duke was sitting, accompanied by his doctors. The Baroness, Odette, and Francis were also in the front row. While the Baron was waiting with Noelle for the entrance time, Odette remained silent. The grand Duke was starting to get nervous because his son hadn't arrived yet. Fortunately, no one except them was in the chapel. Raizel enters shortly after, surprising Odette as he was the same boy she saw last night. He stands next to the altar, visibly uncomfortable with the situation.
Odette can't believe that this boy is Noelle's betrothed. He is even more attractive than the prince. She clenches her hands on her lap and grits her teeth. That wicked woman doesn't deserve such an attractive man.
The doors open, with Noelle taking her father's arm. Raizel is surprised to see that his future wife is a beautiful girl. He had heard rumors that Francis rejected her, so he believed she was a less attractive girl. Yet, it is Francis' fiancée who is not as beautiful. The Baron passes Noelle's hand to Raizel, and though he hesitates, he finally holds it. She is pretty, but he dislikes being forced into marriage. Noelle keeps her gaze lowered, appearing timid, but deep down, she is excited. Finally, that man will be hers. The ceremony begins with the typical speech about marriage. They exchange rings and vows, and the priest declares them husband and wife.
"You may seal this marriage with a kiss," says the priest.
Raizel leans in without lifting Noelle's veil.
"I have no interest in kissing you, little girl," he says.
"As you wish, husband," Noelle replies.
Raizel hears Noelle chuckle, and finally, Jane invites them to the dining room as dinner is about to be served.
