Normal (Amelia‟s) Point a view
I had just left Olivia sobbing in the other room. I don‟t care though, as far as I was concerned, she was no friend of mine anymore. I felt betrayed. Maybe that was because I was betrayed, by my best friend. She had lied to me for over a year, she had kept the biggest secret of my life to herself. I had never been so furious. I quietly opened the door to the triplets‟ nursery.
I love the way it looks. All three of them were asleep in their cots. I looked down at each of them and could see their dad in them… John. I wasn't sure how I had missed it before. They had the same blonde hair, but then again Jake had blonde hair also, and the same blue eyes that I had stared into not that long ago. John was Ava, Mae and Adams‟ dad.
Wow, how life can change in the blink of an eye. I had never thought about that statement apart from when somebody dies; now I knew better. One conversation, one innocent slip of the tongue and over five people‟s lives are changed forever. I had no idea where John went, probably running as far away as he could.
I could see why Olivia had done it, but it was wrong, so f**king wrong. I had hated Jacob for leaving and denying his children for over a year, but how could I blame him? He was pushed into a situation, which he should have never been pushed into.
I could never, ever trust Olivia again and I seriously thought that I would never see John again. I woke up suddenly, not noticing where I had fallen asleep. My eyes adjusted to see that I was still in the triplets‟ room, except now the sun was up, and so were my babies.
They were all sitting in bed baby talking to each other. Mae noticed that I was awake and a huge grin came across her face and she reached out for me. Ava and John noticed Mae and when they had the reason why they wanted a hug also.
This happened every morning. I took them all out of the cot and I sat on the floor. Adam sat in my lap and Ava and Mae, I was hugging. It was hard to not let them feel left out, but I had perfected the technique over the past year. We ended staying on the floor for about an hour, mostly snuggling and reading stories, which they loved.
When I had finished reading "where the wild things are" for the sixth time, the triplets all toddled off to do whatever they wanted. The rest of the day went by uneventful. I cleaned the house, looked after the triplets and looked at some online courses. I had decided that I needed to get a good job, and the kids were growing up…
wow, I sounded like an old lady when I said that. I was watching Play School with triplets when the phone rang. I jogged to the kitchen and picked it up. "Amelia speaking" I answered "Hello Miss Smith, this is Deputy Holland for the local precinct. I was wondering if you know a young man called John Keller?" he asked "Uh, yes" I replied cautiously.
Why was the police asking me if I knew John? "He was picked up last night and needs somebody to come and collect him. He specifically asked for you." I was a little shocked, why had John been arrested? "Is he in any trouble?" I asked "No mam. He spent the night in the drunk tank. We cannot release him unless somebody collects him, he has already paid his bail", "I thought people only had to pay bail if they had to go to court?"
I asked worriedly "It was for a public drinking offense but he won‟t have to appear in court" I sighed in relief. "Ok, I can be there in about half an hour," I said "See you then Miss Smith" and he hung up the phone. I put the phone back on the hook and realized a small problem.
