You hear your phone ringing in your back pocket and take your phone out. You look at the caller ID and it's your boyfriend, Levi.

"Hey gorgeous, I'll be home in a bit, do you need me to get you anything?" you say as you get in your car, about to drive home.

"No, I'm good just come home.." he sounded upset and tired.

"Alright, is everything alright?"

"Not really.."

"Okay, I'll be home soon. I love you"

"Drive safe, I love you too"

You hang up and start your car, heading home. You start thinking of possibilities why Levi could be upset and how you could comfort and cheer him up.

When you got home, you unlocked the door and called out to your boyfriend.

"Hey baby, I'm home!"

"In the kitchen love!"

You set your bag down and take your coat and shoes off. You then walk to the kitchen where you saw Levi by the counter, drinking tea. He walked over to you and kissed you.

"How was the drive back home?"

"Not too bad actually"

"That's good"

"Mhm.. you told me over the phone that something was wrong, what's up?"

He looked down and sighed.

"Mom's getting worse.."

"Oh love.."

"I know the doctor said from the very beginning that she doesn't have a lot of time... but it's - it's hard. She's my mom and I -" before he could finish his sentence he started tearing up. You take him to the living room and sat him down on the couch with you and place your legs on his. You wrap your arm around him and play with his hair as you knew it gave him comfort.

"I'm not ready for her to go," he says in between sniffs.

"I know baby and I'm so sorry.."

"I just really hoped she would be here a little longer. I - I wanted her to be here when we possibly get married and start a family, meet our future child or children. I want her to be there when all that happens. She's always wanted to have grandchildren and she will but - but she won't even be there when it happens. I just wanna make her proud.." by now his face was completely dripping with tears.

"Oh Vi.. I know you want her to be there when all that happens and she might not be there for any of that but in a way, she will be. She'll be looking down on you, taking care of you. And even if we haven't gotten married or started a family yet, that doesn't mean she isn't proud of anything else you've achieved in life. Baby, she is so proud of you, whether it was a big or small achievement. She is very proud of the man you've become. She looks at you with so much joy honey.."

At times where Levi is feeling down, the best way you knew how to comfort him was to reassure him.

You wipe some of the tears off of his face and slowly lift his head to face you.

"It might seem like you won't be able to ever heal from losing her but you will even if it seems impossible. And I will be here every step of the way, with you." You made sure to emphasize the last sentence, to make sure he would understand that you sincerely meant it.

Levi gives you a weak smile and goes in for a kiss.

"Thank you, love.. You're like my comfort person, you always know how to comfort me."

"It's my job to know." You smile at him.

He sighs once more and looks at you.

"You'll be okay Vi."

He sighs once more and looks at you.

"I'll be okay"
