“It’ll be fine,” you tell yourself as you take a few deep breaths, preparing to knock on your ex-boyfriend’s front door. When you did knock on his door, you felt like running off and pretending like you never even thought about visiting him but it was too late to backtrack, he was already opening the door. He was always one to keep a straight face almost 99% of the time but you could tell he didn’t expect to have any visitors today, especially not you.

“Y/n? What are you doing here?”

“Hey Levi, I - I wanted to visit.. But if you’re busy I understand I can-”

“No, not at all, come in..”

Goodness, that awkwardness could kill.

As soon as you step into Levi’s house, you were hit with memories of when you two were still together. You did manage to stay friends after the break-up but because it only happened a few months ago, it was still pretty fresh and quite awkward as expected.

“I thought you were in France, you know, chasing your dreams?”

“Yeah, I uh, was just homesick and they let me go on a small break..”

“Oh, okay.”

You practically could cut the tension in the room with a knife.

“So, what are you doing here?”

“I just wanted to see how you were doing..”

That wasn’t exactly the truth but it wasn’t completely a lie either. You were here because you missed him, in a boyfriend way. You wanted him back, to cut it short.

“I’m doing fine, could be better though, and you?” he did seem like something was bothering him, maybe it was you?

“Same here, not much going on but I have had better days.”

“Better days like being in France and chasing your dream?”

Well, that was unexpected and blunt.

“I didn’t mean it that way.. I was - I don’t know what I - I just - I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it to come out like that” He was a stuttering mess but you weren’t that offended by his comment anyways.

“Calm down,” you chuckled maybe a laugh could ease the tension between the both of you.

“I didn’t take it to heart, promise.” you cracked a smile that he returned. Maybe it was just you or maybe the sun decided to shine a little brighter but the room lit up after Levi smiled.

“Was that all you wanted? To see how I was doing?” you wondered if he was angry with you, or maybe he was annoyed to see you.

“I did miss you a lot..” there was a silence that met you, at that moment you just wanted to crawl in a hole or turn back time if you could and stop yourself from saying what you did.

“Y/n.. I don’t think you should be here,” he cleared his throat

“I’m not completely over you or the break-up and if I want to move on, I can’t - I don’t - I just don’t think I can handle this right now. I’m sorry. It’s best if you just leave, I hope you enjoy the rest of your break and have a safe flight back to France.”

“I’m not going back to France,” you said immediately, this was your only chance to tell him what you felt.

“What? Why?”

“Because I want to stay here.”

“But you left everything behind so you could follow your dreams in France. What do you mean you wanna stay here? I mean,” he hesitated before continuing.

“I mean, you broke up with me to chase after what you wanted..” that sentence broke your heart, all you could think was how stupid you were to leave him.

“And it was stupid of me to do that. I thought it was what I wanted but I wasn’t even really doing it for me, I just wanted to please my mom and somewhere along the line, I realized it wasn’t worth it. What I wanted was you, I still - I still love you, Levi.”

“What happens if I tell you I don’t feel the same way and would rather have you out of my life?” that completely caught you off-guard, and may or may have not struck your heart in a very painful way.

“I would accept it. When I was thinking about coming here and telling you what I felt, I did acknowledge the fact that you could reject me. And I am completely okay with that, of course, it would hurt but I don’t wanna force you to be in something you wouldn’t want.”

You were met with another silence.

“And if I said I felt the same way?”

“Then I would be following what I wanted, following my actual dream.”

You caught him smile a bit from what you said.

“Your actual dream?”

“Spending the rest of my life with you.”

“You promise to never leave me again?”

“I promise.”

“Then follow your actual dream.”
