Episode 20

He knows I'm still here, who does he think he is to kiss her like that?!

Okay, this is none of my business. As soon as this guy leaves, I'm going back to my office. I don't know when or how I started acting like an idiot. Louize left without me even noticing. She also refused my ride. No one ever refused a ride from me, I mean, no one refuses anything that comes from me. Women practically throw themselves at my feet, unlike Louize, who showed indifference towards me and never showed any interest in me.

Anyway, I'm not interested in her. After all, I've made it very clear that I don't admit involvement here in the company, and I'm not going to change my mind now.

After lunch, I go back to my office. It's already past one in the afternoon, and honestly, I wasn't in the mood to stay at work for the rest of the day. The events earlier left me a bit shaken.

I get an unexpected visit from Jacob. He said he was passing by and decided to stop by and see me. I was surprised but I can't hide that I liked seeing him.

I get up to greet him and, curiously, Hunter arrives and catches us hugging. It was embarrassing, especially because I saw something in Hunter's eyes that seemed like jealousy. I don't know, but I think he was bothered to see Jacob there with me. I introduced them, but I didn't quite understand what happened. Hunter practically kicked Jacob out of there, and even though I don't have feelings for my boss, somehow I felt uncomfortable in that situation.

The end of the afternoon arrives and Hunter is already leaving, even earlier than usual.

"Louize, I'm leaving now. You're free for the day."

"Oh, great! I have to stop by the market to buy some things for the house."

"Let's go, I'll take you."

"You don't have to go out of your way, I already told you."

"You're avoiding me. My God, why are you so stubborn? Am I that repulsive to you that you don't want to be near me?"

"It's not that, I just don't want you to waste your time with me. I can call a taxi."

"I insist, let's go."

"Fine, so you don't feel so bad, you can drop me off at the market that's a block from my house, that's fine."

"If that's what you want, fine. Oh, stubborn woman, my God. Let's go before you change your mind."

I roll my eyes, grab my things, and we leave. We take the elevator, pass through the main hall, and head for the exit. Everyone is looking at us, not quite understanding the situation. They must be thinking that I'm the next victim that Mr. Hunter will take to slaughter. I'm not used to so many curious eyes on me.

Although I never notice how handsome he is. Today especially, he's wearing a perfect, tailored suit, five-day stubble, perfectly styled hair, and that must be why he attracts so much attention. And now, walking side by side with him, I feel so small.
