Cuca
Storyteller
It was a dark night in the small village, and the winds blew cold, bringing whispers of warning. The children were getting ready for bed, but an unsettling feeling hung in the air.

“Don’t forget, children,” their mother said, her voice tense. “Don’t go outside after sunset. Cuca is on the prowl.”
Pedro
“But Cuca doesn’t exist! It’s just a story to scare us.”
Storyteller
His younger sister, Ana, looked on with wide eyes.
Ana
“But what if it’s true? My friend said she transforms into an alligator!”

As the night deepened and the village fell asleep, a noise echoed through the forest. Pedro, curious, sneaked to the window and peered outside.
Pedro
“It’s just the wind.”
He muttered to himself, but a shadow darted quickly under the moonlight.
Ana whispered, pulling him back.
Ana
“You can’t look out there!”
Storyteller
But he didn’t listen.
Pedro
“I’ll prove there’s nothing out there.”
He replied, determined. With that, he opened the door and stepped into the darkness.

As he walked, the sounds of the night grew louder. A distant song floated through the air, sweet and hypnotic. “Come, Pedro… come play,” the voice whispered, like an echo of nightmares.
Pedro shouted, his courage wavering.
Storyteller
The figure materialized from the shadows—a woman with dark skin, deep eyes, and a sinister smile. “It’s me, Cuca. You came to visit me?”
He recoiled, a chill running down his spine.
Pedro
“I… I just wanted to see if you were real!”
Storyteller
“Real enough to take you,” she replied, slowly advancing. “You shouldn’t have left home.”
Pedro
“But… but I’m just a child!”
Pedro pleaded, fear consuming his heart.
Storyteller
“And disobedient children must be taught,” Cuca said, her gaze intensifying. “Come with me, and you’ll never have to worry about tests or homework again.”
Storyteller
Ana, who had secretly followed Pedro, shouted from the edge of the forest.
Ana
“Pedro! Come back! Don’t go with her!”
Storyteller
But it was too late. Cuca extended her hand, and a thick mist enveloped them. “Goodbye, little one. I hope you learn to heed the warnings.”
Storyteller
And so, on a night that seemed endless, Pedro vanished into the shadows, Cuca’s laughter echoing through the forest.
