It was said that the Curupira, the guardian of the woods, inhabited these shadows. With his feet turned backward, he confused hunters and loggers, leading them to get lost in a labyrinth of trees and darkness.

One night, a group of armed men, seduced by promises of wealth, ventured into the forest. They ignored the whispers of the ancients about the Curupira, believing they could tame nature. As they moved deeper, the leaves seemed to murmur, and the night grew heavier, as if the forest itself were warning them.

While hunting, a low, unsettling laughter echoed through the trees. The Curupira watched from afar, his eyes glowing like two embers. He followed them, each of his movements a game of cat and mouse, manipulating the environment. When the men reached a clearing, they felt a chill run down their spines, and in an instant, everything changed.

The trees shifted, and shadows danced. The Curupira, invisible, used his powers to create illusions. One of the hunters, looking down at the ground, saw tracks that seemed to lead him to a great animal. But when he followed the footsteps, he found himself before a colossal tree, its roots entwined like serpents, trapping him in a deadly embrace.

One by one, the men were captured by their own ambitions, lost in the vastness of the forest. The Curupira laughed, a sound echoing like the snap of dry branches, feeding the legend that those who disrespected nature would be doomed to wander eternally.

Based on a brazilian folklore
The author has something to say: I always got confused about the difference between Curupira and Caipora(you will soon see how the story sounds like)and now I really think that Curupira is smart than Caipora. Both work to protect the nature and this is enough.
