The Gift

“Rose you are being requested at table 2. That’s weird why would I be requested did I do something wrong? As I start walking to the table I can hear a familiar voices. Oh no it’s them again now it’s definitely going to be along night.

“Hey babe! How was the test did you pass? I’m sure that you did! You studied all night for it” Wait how does he know that I studied all night, and why does he keep on calling me babe when I repeatedly asked him not to? You know what forget it I’m just going to ask them what they need and get this over with.

“Hello Vince, how can I help you too night?”. “She has a nickname for him” one of them said, and starts to laugh “ How cute!! What’s next she’s going to call him babe too” the other one says jokingly. “Why would she do that. She’s not even good enough to be seen with us. You guys are taking it too far” Alex says giving them an annoyed face.

What’s up with this guy? He is such an a**hole all the time. “Why can I give him a nickname if he gave me one! Or is it illegal or something? You Alex? Right? Who gives you the right to say I’m inferior too you!?!” This guy thinks to highly of himself, I start to walk away to relax because if I would’ve continue to be there this time I’ll probably do something worse than throw water on his face. For some reason any type of comment coming out if his mouth just gets me annoyed I get it he doesn’t like me fine but he doesn’t need to continue to be rude.

I start grabbing their drinks when Vincent comes behind me causing me too get startled, he was so quite I didn’t hear him coming. “Ouch!” I turn around but Vicent is frozen just looking at my wound. I had accidentally dropped a glass cup making me cut my hand. His eyes seem to start changing color, and then a loud bang the sound of someone exiting the restaurant distracting me, and taking Vincent out of his trance.

“Are you ok babe! I’m sorry I shouldn’t have startled you..here let me help you”, as he helps me clean my wound I look into his eyes and they where back to their normal color. “By the way I think you friend Alex just left”. Vicent just continues to clean my wound “Well he might have had something to do since he left in such a hurry” he smiles. “Thank you for addressing my cut but you don’t need to help me. Your a customer go back with your friends I’ll go out with your drinks shortly”.

I start to work my shift, and I start to get to know these guys without Alex these three guys seem like fun. While delivering another set of drinks it seems that their alcohol tolerance level is high I swear I already gave them like 8 drinks and there not drunk.

I’m giving them another set of drinks when Vincent starts to talk to me in a more serious voice.“So babe I wanted to give you something” Vincent pulls out a box. “What is it? I don’t really know you? Why would you want me get me a gift?” looking at the box. “Open it you’ll see that what’s in there it will help with the dilemma of us getting to know each other” Vincent just smiles. “Just open it Rose trust me it can’t be that expensive” his friend Johnathan laughs.

I open the box, and in it there’s is the latest cellphone model from the Star company. “I can’t receive this it’s too much” looking at the phone. “Don’t worry about it I saw you’re phone the other day, and I have been texting you since then, and you haven’t replied soo I figured you haven’t replied because you hadn’t yet fixed it or had gotten a new one”. It’s true that I didn’t have money to fix it but I don’t like people giving me things.

“I can’t take this it’s really kind of you but this gift is too expensive, I’ll fix my old one or I’ll buy one later on” I gave it back to Vince. “Really it’s nothing just take it I’ll be happy if you do, and in that way we can text or talk. I already linked it to your phone number and everything practically ready to go” but I knew nothing is free in this life so I didn’t want to take it plus how did he get all the info from my old phone already. Looking at me Vince knew I wasn’t going to take it. “It’s really ok but I can’t accept this” He attempted all during my shift to give me the phone before going home with his friends.

We start closing up the restaurant another long night at this rate, I should have enough to buy a phone because my old one wasn’t fixable. “Bye! Boss see you tomorrow!” running to the bus stop I see it’s lights as it leaves. Great I already missed the last bus for the night, at least I called my mom earlier from the restaurant to tell her that I was coming home late so she shouldn’t be worried.

Walking down the street going toward my home I felt a feel a buzzing sound. What the hell ?!?! What’s this damn it Vince! He must of put the phone in purse while I wasn’t looking. Sure enough I had a incoming call from “Babe ❤️❤️” I answer the phone “Hey babe! Before you get mad I thought that you really needed the phone so I put it in your purse when you weren’t looking hope you don’t mind” I was just going to reply to him when I start noticing that there where a couple of men following me that where at the restaurant earlier I was so distracted from the phone that I had barely noticed them. “Hey Vince I have to go there some men following me”.

“Rose... Rose... Babe....Babe.. Don’t hang up stay on the pho...”

I hung up I needed to be fully aware of my situation and get home the fastest that I can.
