Chapter 6 - Hateful Kindness
Inside of the library, my eyes were right on the last page of my book. This world is so fascinating! I'm deeply intrigued and obsessed with their history and culture.
Passing by the library, Cal slowed down when he heard some noise.
Curious, he slowly walked towards it and pushed the door open slightly. And what he saw was indeed nothing short of beautiful.
My long golden locks cascaded over my shoulders while my beautiful cerulean eyes moved across one side of the page to another.
I played with the top corner of the page, simply dying to turn it so that I could explore the next. But that wasn’t what made me so beautiful.
It was the smile that I wore while doing it. Never before had he seen such radiance.
I then closed over the book and slowly got up. Marching over to the bookshelf, I caressed the spines of the books as I searched for the empty spot to slot it back in.
Then, a glimmer caught my eyes when I looked up. A book with the title “Devil Laws” caught my attention, however, I was too short to reach it myself.
I looked around and then picked up a ladder. Hopefully, this will allow me to reach it! So far, the books on Demonology and Spell Casting have been a great help.
I could feel my senses tingling when I practised the incantation in my head. I pushed the ladder against the bookshelf and slowly hoisted myself up onto the first rung.
My fingers touched the strong mahogany as I slowly started to climb up. When the book was in my reach, I tried to take it out when I soon realised that it was way too heavy!
This was bad! I could feel myself losing balance! Soon, my centre of gravity shifted and I was falling backwards.
Was this the end? I’m just going to have to accept the world of pain I’ll be in once I hit the ground!
Closing my eyes tightly, I gripped onto the book as hard as I could until something warm enveloped me and pain was nowhere to be found. Opening up my eyes, I found myself surrounded in a beautiful blue light, slowly floating down.
I then looked down as I landed into someone’s arms. The one boy that hadn’t spoken a word amongst the rest of the five.
Cal Bentley
Are humans all this foolish?
Amy Angel
That isn't very nice, you know.
Cal Bentley
I'm a Devil. What else do you expect?
I smiled. He's pretending to be evil, how silly.
Amy Angel
You aren't rude. You would have let me fall if you were rude. Anyway, thank you for saving me.
My smile was too radiant, too bright yet somehow, he couldn’t help but look at it.
He gently set me onto the ground. He kept me steady and took the book from my hands.
Cal Bentley
Demon Law... how positively boring.
I couldn't help myself but chuckle.
Amy Angel
I find all new things fascinating. Especially your language, it shares many common similarities with mine.
I gently removed the book from his hands and smiled yet again.
Cal Bentley
You learnt our language? Already?
I smiled and turned around, walking towards the windowsill and started to read, without answering his question.
Then, to my surprise, he took a book and sat on Chester’s desk, reading it. In silence, we enjoyed each other’s company while time flew by. In peace.
