There! All packed up!

As I sealed the last one of my moving boxes, I sat down in the middle of my empty room, sighing.

My mother announced only yesterday that she was engaged to a very wealthy man.

Since my mother and him are going on an around-the-world tour, they suggested that I go live with his children in the family house.

My mother has never dated anyone with children. She already hates the fact that she had me in the first place... so why was she getting engaged to someone who had children?

Well, my mother's relationships never lasted long. It always ended up with her leaving them, saying that she had enough of their attitude. In other words, she got bored and left.

She's gone for half a year and either I could remain in this empty house and sulk or I could move in with other children my age.

I took my mother's fiancé's advice and agreed to move in with his children.

He used to be married but his wife died in an accident. She was apparently never an honest woman and mistreated him and her children.

It's a similar situation to what my father used to be, then.

As I picked up the last box, I slowly walked down the stairs, treading each step carefully.

Then, I finally got outside. The truck was there, waiting for me and only me.

As I gave the box to one of the men, I then locked the door and twirled around, jumping into the front of the truck and we departed.

The house was on the other side of town, in the fancy neighbourhood that my mother and I couldn't even afford to step in.

Mover

This must be exciting, little missy! Living in a place like this?

Dawn Black

Yes... I'm very fortunate.

It'll get me away from that house. And that's the only reason why I'm going.

Once the truck stopped itself in front of a beautiful house, I jumped out and searched my keyring for the key that was entrusted to me.

Elliot Prince

There you are! Welcome, Dawn!

Dawn Black

Oh, Mr Prince. I didn't expect to see you here.

Elliot Prince

I left your mother at the airport. I thought that you'd like a tour.

Dawn Black

Um, are you sure that was a good idea. My mother is terribly impatient.

Elliot Prince

I told her that I left the cooker on. She believed me.

Elliot Prince

Come on in. I'll show the movers to your room.

And just like that, my new life began and the fateful encounter of the two individuals who were going to change my life was just around the corner.
