Picnic To The Land Of Pyramids

Picnic To The Land Of Pyramids

Beyond and Before

Prologue

All pair of eyes were fixed on the stage blinklessly. The round stage which also a time machine was veiled by a blue light.

Everybody in the room that had the size of a hangar looked worried waiting for the arrival of the search party.

Soon enough came some lights which started as flashes but ended iluminating the stage. All of a sudden like one of those David Copperfield show, appeared several people on the stage.

Yet it brought dissapointment to the people in the room waiting in their lab coat, for the one guy they had been waiting for was not among them. They all wondered how Mr. Reign would react.

Mr. Reign himself, standing up front among the scientists needed some time to came back to reality.

Slowly he looked down, shatered in the age so old he needed a walking stick by his left hand.

"The search party must return tomorrow to bring my grandson back.", He commanded.

"One more thing...", he added as he tapped his stick to the ground, " My grandson's dissapearence to the past must never leave this room!"

"If this ever go public my investment in this time travelling technology won't be the only thing will be lost, but each and everyone of your reputation will be ruined. This failure to find my grandson lost in Osiris period will be all the world remember."

"Who, then, would even consider time travel as a recreation!? " []

Thousands of people were at the Bastille prison. On the entrance of the Bastille prison, villagers were rebelling. Riot erupted after castles and monastries were raided and burnt. The Bastille fortress was burnt by fire so great, black smokes escaped high from the top of towers and the buildings. A man stood on a chair and provoked the rebels with an oration. He was cheered in furiously patriotistic yells that echoed to the sky.

"Vive La Nation!" Screamed a farmer waving a cane in his right hand. France flag was tied at the end of that cane.

"En Avant!" Raved another man commanding everybody to moved toward the Bastille prison gate. This one had a spear with him while many others even brought fire arms with them.

"The reason why people are attacking the Bastille prison is because the King mistreated them. The people revolt to destroy the king as a symbol of power, people want the political and community leaders to be fred from this prison of Bastille." Monsieur Duran explained.

Even with Monsieur Duran naration Elenore, Austin, Eliot, Kirana and Geoffry couldn't hide their shock witnessing the attack.

The people gets even more furious discovering the plan to gather 20.000 royal troops to dismiss National Council and counter the revolution. Monsieur Duran continued among the commotion.

"The National Guard who initially never intend to shed their fellow countrymen's blood in the end decided to conduct a more repressive approach against the people." said Monsieur Duran. "In the end like most protests, a riot is inevitable."

And among the National Guard some of the King's followers tried to drew sympathy from the people.

"Vive, La cocarde noire!"

They shouted cheerfully.

A female activist praised the King

"A Versailles! Ramenons Le Roi!"

These claims of course were the opposite of how the people felt who had fed up with the abuses from the monarchy. The resistance move escalated when an arriving rioters arrived with a wax statue.

"Je vous le prete! Ne le faites pas fonder!" Exclaimed a guy in a royal dress. He stormed out from the wax factory and hailed the protesters to stayed united in the course.

"Just like all officials arriving at Paris, to the Bastille... here is Monsieur Mirabeau, the people's prince, joining them." Monsieur Duran explain when he noticed some Royal Family were among the peasants.

"Bring him back.... Necker!" Exclaimed the peasant that hold the wax statue

The half body wax statue was carried by three people while dozens followed behind; men, women and children.

"Vive Necker!" again the peasant yelled followed by the rest.

"Vive La Nation!" others chimed in.

Hot air blew the dust stomped by hundreds of pair of feet that surrounded the castle

Woried the two got caught in the riot Kirana pulled Eliot and Geoffry out od the mob's way

But it was too late, the mob is too close , it just barged right through their body reminding the boys where they were at the moment.

"Who's that statue was?" Geoff asked curiously why those peasant wanted him back.

"That was Jacques Necker, the treasury. Necker was removed from his position for siding with the people." Monsieur Duran explained.

The mob burned down the Bastile Prison. The prison guards were pushed back by the riot.

"Arretez Ces Harpies!" Ordered the prisoner warden to the National Guard commander to secure the Bastile Castle from the mob.

"Do you want to see what happens next? We need to get closer." Offered Monsieur Duran.

"But do not cross the yellow light!"

"In this part we will witness the warden, Marquis de Launay and 8 of the guards killed by the mob. He was decapitated and they stick his head on a stake to be paraded all over the town."

During this period , around 16.000 to 40.000 French people were dead. Horibble!, said Monsieur Duran.

"CEST LA GRANDE PEUR!" Eleonore objected out of fear, "Lets just skip this part!"

The part they were trying to avoid happened anyway.

The riot reached its climax.

"We have to end this riot!" The command of national guard decided.

... Trooopers!

The National Guard troopers who initially stood by the road side, started to aim their bayonet toward the rioters. But the peasants kept charging forward courageously.

"Ce Serait Un Massacre!" Austin screamed begging to stop viewing the slaughter about to begin.  []
