It was awkward for me.
Handing that thing to the girl I had just started falling for felt strangely intimate.
Atharv
Here…”
I muttered.
Jia
“One chips, chocolate… this all for my mood swings.”
Atharv
Oh… okay.”
Jia
“You’re very slow. Give me fast!”
I quickly pushed the items toward her.
Jia
What’s your name, Mister Cute?”
She asked, her eyes still fixed on her phone, fingers flying as she texted someone.
Atharv
A… Atharv.”
Jia
Jiaaaa,”
She said brightly, finally looking up.
Atharv
“Five hundred rupees.”
Jia
“Here.”
She pulled out a note from her purse and pressed it into my hand.
Then, casually as if it were nothing, she added,
Jia
So, Atharv… you know I’m living here, in the ××× building, apartment number 05. Here’s the key. Actually, I’m going out for a party, and my friend Sia will come. Hand her the key, okay?”
She placed the key in my palm without hesitation.
I stared at it, speechless. She trusted people so easily—blindly, even. She was so… childish.
I closed my fingers around the key as she turned and headed off, heels clicking, humming some tune. It was her third party in three days.
