~The Truth Untold: TaeKook~
Chapter 3
After the awkwardness of the previous night’s conversation, Jungkook had agreed to stay at the Jeon mansion for a day—mostly at his parents’ insistence. The following morning, they shared breakfast together, just like old times, before his father and Yoongi left for work. Jungkook walked them to the gate with his mother, exchanging soft goodbyes and watching them disappear down the driveway. The moment lingered a little too long.
Once they were gone, Jungkook wandered into the garden. The scent of blooming flowers surrounded him—a familiar comfort. In the center of it all stood a white gazebo, shaded and quiet. The perfect place to sit and think. Or not think at all.
He was resting there when his mother returned, holding two sheet masks in her hands.
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
Care to accompany me for a little beauty care?
She asked with a warm smile. Jungkook chuckled softly and nodded.
Jeon Jungkook {Rare Omega}
Sure.
A few moments later, both mother and son were stretched out under the gazebo with masks on their faces, enjoying the peaceful stillness of the morning.
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
Jungkook...
Mrs. Jeon spoke gently, breaking the silence,
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
Your father and I didn’t mean to make things awkward last night.
Jungkook remained quiet for a beat before answering,
Jeon Jungkook {Rare Omega}
I know, eomma. In fact... I’m sorry for making you both worry.
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
We’re your parents, Kook. We have every right to worry about you. And you shouldn’t be apologizing for something like that.
Jungkook didn’t respond. He pressed his lips together, uncertain of what to say.
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
We just want you to marry someone who will love you and cherish you through everything...
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
Someone who will hold you when you feel like you’re falling, stop you when you're going astray... someone who sees you for who you are, and still chooses to stay.
Her words settled over him heavily. For a long moment, Jungkook said nothing. Then, suddenly, he laughed.
It started as a small chuckle but quickly grew into something louder, unrestrained. He laughed so hard the sheet mask slipped from his face. But it wasn’t the kind of laughter that brought relief—it echoed with something hollow, something broken.
Jeon Jungkook {Rare Omega}
Jeon Jungkook {Rare Omega}
Eomma...
Jeon Jungkook {Rare Omega}
You want me to find someone else and fall in love... but I’m afraid that if I ever do find my fated mate, he might not even accept me for what I’ve become.
Jeon Jungkook {Rare Omega}
So how can I expect some other alpha to accept me? Or expect him to love me—when I’m so sure that even my fated mate would reject me if he ever finds out...?
Mrs. Jeon froze, her heart twisting. She slowly pulled off her own mask, eyes fixed on her son.
He was laughing, yes—but his eyes weren’t smiling. They were filled with pain.
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
Kook...
She whispered, her voice cracking.
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
You...
She didn’t know what to say. How could she? How could any parent be prepared to see their child laugh like that—with sadness so deep it barely masked itself behind a smile?
Eventually, the laughter faded. Jungkook wiped his eyes, exhaled slowly, and looked at his mother.
Jeon Jungkook {Rare Omega}
Eomma...
Jeon Jungkook {Rare Omega}
I know you want me to find someone—to be happy, to get married—especially since I haven’t been able to find my fated mate. But... you’ve never pushed me this much before. Did something happen?
Mrs. Jeon looked down at her hands, then sighed again. There was hesitation in her voice when she finally spoke.
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
Yoongi’s... soon-to-be in-laws visited for dinner. The three of them want to get married—he, his beta, and their omega. They’re all well settled now, so it makes sense.
Jeon Go-Eun {Dominant Omega}
It was just us parents meeting, nothing official. But... seeing them, talking about futures... it made everything feel a little more real. And I couldn’t help but think about you too.
Jungkook sat silently, his heart strangely still.
He understood. He really did.
But understanding didn’t make the ache in his chest any less painful.
