For a second, Jungkook just stared, unsure if this nerd was stupid or suicidal. Then he chuckled, shaking his head.
jungkook
You’ve got guts. But guts don’t get you far here
One of Jungkook’s friends snatched Taehyung’s tray and tilted it, letting the kimchi slide dangerously close to spilling.
jungkook's friend 1
Oops
jungkook's friend 1
Clumsy, huh? (jokingly)
Gasps and whispers filled the cafeteria.
Taehyung’s hand shot out, steadying the tray before a single drop hit the floor. His movements were sharp—too sharp for someone who was supposed to be a harmless nerd.
He calmly took the tray back and set it down again, his face unreadable.
jungkook
...(Noticed )...
Jungkook noticed. That precision… that calmness… it wasn’t normal.
Taehyung pushed his glasses up and spoke softly
taehyung
If you’re done, I’d like to eat.
The silence that followed was heavy. Jungkook’s smirk faltered for the first time. His pride prickled—no one dismissed him like that.
He leaned down closer, so only Taehyung could hear.
jungkook
You think you’re smart, huh? Careful, nerd. You’ll regret it
Taehyung looked up, meeting his gaze steadily. For the briefest second, his eyes glinted with something cold—something Jungkook couldn’t name but felt deep in his chest.
Then Taehyung smiled faintly.
taehyung
We’ll see.
Jungkook froze. That smile… it wasn’t scared. It was something else. Something dangerous.
His friends pulled him away, laughing, thinking he’d won. But Jungkook didn’t laugh. He couldn’t shake the feeling that this transfer student wasn’t as harmless as he looked.
Across the cafeteria, Taehyung quietly picked up his chopsticks and started eating, as if nothing happened at all.
