Déjà Vu
Have you ever heard of the saying “Déjà Vu”? Well, if you haven’t, what it means is that you experience something that you feel like you’ve already experienced before. It’s not exactly true. Well, at least that’s what we all think. The saying being “fake” has been proven false. That all changed with a cat and a girl.

Beep! Beep! Beep!
Zoey’s hand popped out of the covers, lazily trying to turn off her alarm. She slammed her hand onto the alarm clock, pressing a button and turning off the alarm. Sleepily, she got up and checked the time. She wiped her eyes, still feeling very sleepy.
Ugh…what time is it?
She looked at the clock to check the time. Her eyes widened, horror entering her face. It was eight forty-five am.
‘I only have fifteen minutes to get ready and get to school!’ shouted Zoey, flinging the covers off her bed. She made her way to her wardrobe, picking out her school uniform at lightning speed.
After ten minutes, Zoey was ready to go to school. She flung her front door open.
‘I’m off to school!’ shouted Zoey, telling her family where she was going.
She dashed out the door, slamming it behind her. Zoey repeatedly checked her phone, making sure that she wasn’t late. She was panting, running to make sure she got to school on time.
Four minutes to go. I can do this. I just have to keep running.
As Zoey ran to school, a black cat suddenly popped out of a bush. She nearly stood on it. She stopped running and the cat brushed against her legs. Zoey quickly crouched down, petting it.
‘Sorry, little guy. Nearly ran over you,’ softly said Zoey, petting the black cat.
As the cat brushed against her legs, she felt a spark of electricity run through her body to her brain. She just brushed it off, though. She quickly stood, starting to run away again.
Three minutes to go.
‘Sorry again, little guy! But I’m going to be late to school! Maybe I’ll see you some other time and make it up to you!’ called Zoey, dashing down the sidewalk.
After two minutes, she reached school. Thankfully, first period hadn’t started yet. She ran into school, running towards the languages corridor. She burst into a French classroom, hoping that her home room teacher wasn’t in yet. Thankfully, she wasn’t. Zoey sighed, trying to gasp her breath. She quickly sprayed herself with perfume in case she smelt bad.
Thank goodness. Madame Pouche isn’t in yet.
Zoey walked over to her desk, collapsing into the chair. She rested her head on the desk, tired. Suddenly, she heard footsteps coming from behind her. The person crouched down, their arms crossed as they lean
on her desk. Zoey couldn’t see them as her head was still down on the desk.
‘Morning, sunshine,’ said the male voice.
Zoey looked up, it was her best friend, Alexander. She called him Alex for short, though. He was resting his head on his hand, grinning from ear to ear as he looked at Zoey.
‘Morning,’ mumbled Zoey.
‘You’re looking a little…’ Alex paused, looking her up and down, ‘gruff.’
‘Shut up. I woke up late this morning,’ huffed Zoey, frowning at Alex.
‘Look who woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.’
Zoey ignored him. Suddenly, her stomach grumbled. She quickly clutched it. Alex looked at her, confused.
‘I’m starving,’ moaned Zoey, still holding onto her stomach.
‘You didn’t have to time to eat this morning?’ asked Alex. Zoey nodded. ‘You really did wake up late this morning.’ He stood up and reached into his pocket. He then held his hand out, an apple in his hand. ‘Here. I was going to eat this for break but you need it more than me.’
Zoey took the apple from his hand, immediately taking a bite into it. ‘Thank you,’ thanked Zoey, her mouth full.
This was only the beginning of Zoey’s interesting life.
