The vehicle swerved violently as figures emerged from the darkness, weapons glinting under the pale moonlight. Jake’s heart hammered in his chest, every instinct screaming danger. Bastian’s grip on the wheel tightened, his eyes flashing with feral intensity.

Bastian moved with a predator’s grace, spinning and striking, sending the figure sprawling across the gravel. Another tried to pull Jake out—but Bastian’s hand shot out like lightning, catching the attacker by the collar and throwing him into the night. Jake’s breaths came in ragged gasps, a mix of terror and something darker, a pull he couldn’t name. He wanted to resist, to flee—but the chaos, the raw power emanating from Bastian, was intoxicating.

Suddenly, from the shadowed treeline, two figures charged into the fray—Lukas and Ron Eslay. They moved with lethal precision, weapons cutting through the air. Lukas tackled one attacker to the ground while Ron’s strikes sent another sprawling across the gravel. Jake’s eyes widened.

Bastian didn’t pause.

He muttered, dispatching the last attacker with a swift, brutal strike. The night fell silent again, broken only by the heavy breathing of the survivors. Jake’s chest heaved. Fear, adrenaline, and awe collided within him. He looked at Bastian, who leaned back, eyes scanning the shadows as if daring anyone else to challenge him.

Lukas wiped blood from his cheek, glancing at Jake.

Jake’s voice caught.

His gaze flicked back to Bastian.

Bastian’s smile was unreadable, a dangerous curve of lips that promised explanation and chaos in equal measure.
