A man with green hair and simple glasses walked through the streets of Egypt. His gaze rested on each merchant as he nervously looked at the watch on his wrist.
"Ramses is taking a while," he murmured, looking at a small object in one of the stalls. It reminded him a lot of the royal treasures of his time.
He heard a loud noise; most people were fleeing the area. The man reached into his pocket, touching a small, rather old-fashioned wave. He ran in that direction, avoiding the desperately running people.
"Mom," he heard a child crying in an alley.
As he approached, he saw a terrible and bloody scene. The child was hiding among some boxes of garbage while a giant had the body of a woman beneath his foot. The giant seemed to laugh gracefully at his expression.
"Goliath?" The man surprised himself by grabbing the child's hand to pull him behind him. Shocked, the child allowed himself to be moved effortlessly.
"David, my good friend," the giant greeted, grabbing the hand of the woman he was trampling on.
The boy cried louder as David's disgust grew. David knew that fighting in a place with civilians was dangerous. David picked up the boy and swiftly dodged a sword slash: "It almost hit me."
David dodged another slash, not realizing it was a trap. He was kicked by the giant, sending him crashing onto the roof of a house. David hugged the boy to protect him as the air escaped from his lungs. David's vision was blurry, and his body ached.
"Hey," the boy called when he saw that David didn't react. He was terrified to see the giant approaching, laughing cruelly after having struck the person who had killed him.
A sandstorm erupted around the giant as a man in Egyptian robes approached the roof.
"Don't worry, kid. You're standing in front of Pharaoh Ramses III!" The man introduced himself with a smile and a posture that displayed power.
"I'm... late," David whispered weakly, trying to fill his lungs with air.
"A king always arrives on time."

From the Nile River, someone could see the city; it had changed since the last time he was here. He pulled his hood up and hoped no one would see him.
"I definitely don't want to be in this place," he sighed tiredly. "It's been a while."
He didn't hate Egypt, but the memories were somewhat bitter when he thought about it.

Thanks for reading! This is the last chapter of Volume 1. There are still many adventures to come with Deyan, so don't worry. Why did I come up with this book? I don't really know; this idea just came to me. Thank you all so much for reading, and I hope you had fun. Fighting, action, and mystery. Did you spot any clues? Let me know, and I'll tell you what they mean.
I'm Sai (◕ᴗ◕✿) and I hope you like this book. See you in the next volume, which will be much longer and perhaps even funnier... In Egypt.
