From a Lawyer to a… hostage?!

A week after, Mr. Nicholas’s case, Tama was walking out of a café, looking relaxed. Suddenly, she was grabbed by black suited men in dark shades and Ned was dragged into a waiting SUV.

She was gagged and a black cloth bag masked her face.

“Let me go!!” Tama muffled as she struggled with the men.

Nicholas was watching her from a security camera, as a sly smile crept across his face.

‘She’s more than just a talented lawyer. She’s a challenge.’ He thought to himself.

...***...

Nicholas walks into the room where Tama was being held. Then he pulled off the bag from her head.

Immediately he removed the bag, she gave him a deadly stare, then he removed the gag and she spat on him.

“So, Tama, I see you’re getting comfortable.” He said with a smirk as he wiped off the spit on his jacket with a handkerchief.

“I’ll never get comfortable in this prison. How insane are you to kidnap a renowned lawyer you must tired of your silk bed and marble floors, or maybe you’re just straight up bored, well, guess what, I am not your entertainment.” She said defiantly as she glared straight into his eyes, which made him a bit nervous for once.

Nicholas walked over to Tama, looking confident as he crouched down to meet her gaze and gave her an annoying smirk, which made her bubble furiously.

“I have a proposal for you, Tama. You’re going to take on my case.” He said with that same smirk on his lips.

“You want me to defend you? After you kidnapped me?” She asked looking completely outraged.

Nicholas shrugged, looking unfazed about the whole situation, as if he had done this severally.

“That’s just business chocolate. You’ll do what I say, or… consequences will follow.” He said cupping her face and squeezing her cheeks.

“I will never give into your demands.” She said fearlessly as she tightened her lips in anger.

Nicholas’s gaze now shifted from her death stares to her lips, admiring how cute she was as she pouted angrily. Then he looked back up at her pretty brown eyes.

“We’ll see about that.” He said intrigued with a raised brow. Then he turned to leave and told the guard to get her some food and water.

Tama thought to herself, looking determined, ‘I’ll find a way out of here.’

Meanwhile, as Nicholas was leaving, he thought to himself, looking and feeling confident, ‘She will come around. They always do.’

After a few minutes, a servant came in with a food tray filled with good food, but despite her hunger, her rejected it, thinking it was poisoned or best just to avoid eating food from a kidnapper, then she tucked herself into a corner, burying her head in between her legs and shielding her ears with her hands as she tried crying but scolded herself every time she shedded a tear.

Later that night, Tama was now sitting at a desk, looking uncooperative, while Nicholas stood behind her crouching over her, looking poised.

“You’ll work on my case, Tama. You have no choice.” Nicholas said firmly as he crossed his arms.

Nicholas’s expression turned cold, and he pulled out a phone, showing Tama a photo of her family.

“Your family’s safety depends on your cooperation.” He said menacingly with a wide grin.

“If you touch a hair on their heads let alone approach them, I’ll—

“You’ll what? Sue me? That’s if you get out of here alive.” He said as he smiled like the devil would after catching his prey.

So, she reluctantly worked on his case, looking totally agitated. She thought, ‘I’ll play along for now, but I will find a way to escape, but right now I can’t be impulsive for my family’s safety.’

Nicholas watched Tama work, looking quite intrigued, ‘She’s talented, but also stubborn…. I like that.’

...***...

Tama stayed with Nicholas for a few more days after her kidnap. They started spending more time together, working on the case.

Tama remained defiant, but Nicholas started to show his more human side. Now sometimes, instead of working on the case, they talked about other things like, Tama’s life back in Nigeria, or Nicholas’s company, V-cooperation and inheriting a multi-million real estate empire.

“Oh great! Another day of working for a mafia boss, exciting!” Tama exclaimed sarcastically as she stretched in a very cute way unknowingly.

“You’re feisty, I like that.” He said as he gazed at her with curiosity then laughed.

...***...

Afterr that day, Tama began to see a different side of him, one that was charming and vulnerable. Tama’s thoughts swirled in her head, ‘Why do I feel drawn to him? He’s a monster! Get him I’m out off your head!’

But she just couldn’t, no matter how hard she tried.

...***...

One night after she finished helping Nicholas hack his enemy’s large computer server, she was very exhausted and on the verge of smacking her head on her laptop, Nicholas suddenly nudged her and she jolted back.

“Are you done?” He said as he stared into her laptop trying to understand what she did.

“Yep!” She replied nonchalantly as she he crossed her arms.

“You know you were half asleep.”

“So?”

“So, don’t you think that you must have made a mistake somewhere?” He asked as he scanned the screen for anything that looked like a mistake.

She then turned the laptop to face her, and checked it. Suddenly, she slumped back into the chair ands she slowly closed her eyes,

“There aren’t any mistakes.”

Nicholas, wanting to believe her, just stared at her face, he then bent over her face, just hovering over her. Then abruptly, she opened her eyes and she was shocked, her heart was pounding to a point that she could hear it loud in her ears and it also felt like it wanted to pop.

They were now just breaths apart, suddenly, she pulled away feeling flustered, she couldn’t meet his gaze.

Nicholas came closer,

“Move! There’s more space there!” She exclaimed as her cheeks flushed. He then grabbed her wrist, not violently but firm, almost gentle. He then looked deep into her eyes, and she looked up she felt as if she got lost in her eyes, it was as like an icy realm were she was the only warmth. Nicholas sighed deeply,

“You’re getting under my skin, Tama.” Nicholas said intensely as he got even closer to her.

“Th-that’s not possible.” Tama stammered breathlessly as she pulled away from him, looking conflicted. Then she got up to leave, packing up her laptop and books, and quickly walked out the door.

‘I need to keep my distance. He is still a threat to both me and my family.’ She thought as she desperately tried to erase the memory.
