Y/N sat quietly on a lonely bench in a calm, empty park. Her eyes stared blankly ahead, but her mind was racing.
“If I want to bring out the truth… solid proof… then I must work in his company at any cost. That’s the only way I can stay close and gather evidence.”
She clenched her fists slightly.
“But… how is that even possible?”
Out of desperation and a flicker of hope, she pulled out her phone and searched:
"Taehyung’s company current job openings."
To her surprise, there was a listing—for a cleaning staff position. She clicked the link. The website showed multiple job openings—reception, kitchen staff, housekeeping... but—
"I can’t cook... and I never studied enough either," she whispered, her voice trembling.
Y/N and Yuri were raised by their halmeoni (할머니 – grandmother), and after their parents passed away, money was always tight.
Her grandmother had sacrificed everything for Yuri's education so she could move to Seoul and follow her dreams.
Y/N? She had quietly buried her own.
She sighed and clicked on the only job she felt qualified for: cleaning staff.
She filled in the form, submitted her details, and waited.
Ding!
A message popped up:
"You may report tomorrow for your first day of work."
But now...
Her money was nearly gone.
She had only carried a small amount, thinking she'd be staying with Yuri. But fate had flipped the script—she had no house, no food, and nowhere to turn.
She dragged her tired body back to the police station. The same officers who had met her earlier looked up in concern.
Police Officer 1: "You again? What happened now? Is everything okay?"
Y/N gave a faint, tired smile and asked softly,
"What does someone need to do... to get arrested?"
Police Officer 2 (surprised): "Huh? Just... steal something or get into a small fight—why are you asking that?"
She hesitated. Then, without warning, she stepped closer to Officer 2, slipped her hand into his uniform pocket, and pulled out his wallet.
The officer froze. His heartbeat suddenly quickened.
Why?
He didn’t know. But her presence—it made his heart flutter.
She held up the wallet.
"Look. I stole from you. Arrest me now."
Both officers stared at her in shock.
Police Officer 1: "Are you kidding me?! We can’t just arrest you like that. This isn’t a joke, miss."
Y/N: "Please. I just need somewhere to sleep. Just one night."
Police Officer 2: "You should be at home. We already said we’ll find your sister. You can’t just—"
Y/N interrupted, tears welling in her eyes.
"I don’t have a home. I don’t even have money for food. I can’t go back to the village either… my halmeoni—she worked so hard to raise us after our parents died. She gave up everything. If she knew about this… it would break her heart. I won’t let her worry. She doesn’t deserve that. Not after everything she’s done."
The room fell silent.
Police Officer 1: sighs "Okay, but what now? What do you plan to do?"
Y/N: "Nothing. Just… let me stay in the lockup for tonight. Tomorrow I’ll start working. I’ll be okay then."
Police Officer 1 (blinks in disbelief): "Is your brain working properly?"
But before he could say more—
Police Officer 2: "Sir… wait."
He turned to Y/N.
"If you’re okay with it… I have an idea. My sister lives nearby. You can stay at her place just for tonight. Here, I’ll give you the address."
He also handed her some cash.
"These are bus fare. Please don’t walk alone at night."
Y/N stared at him, her eyes wide with gratitude.
"You’re not human… you’re an angel. Gomawo (고마워 – thank you)… thank you so much!"
She bowed deeply, holding back tears, and left the station—hope finally flickering in her chest.
Scene ends.
