Because Elias and Adrian's gonna need it
The crash echoed again... louder this time.
Something was approaching the cottage at high speed.
Adrian’s posture changed instantly. The cold, aloof runaway prince was gone. In his place stood a full vampire, deadly, focused, fangs just barely restrained. His red eyes glowed faintly in the shadows of the room. Changing his mind on letting Elias fight.
Adrian
“Stay here.” *He said sharply.*
Adrian
“Under the bed or in the cellar.”
Elias
*Elias didn’t move.*
Adrian
*Adrian whipped his gaze toward him.*
Elias
“You think I’m going to let you face whatever that is alone? You barely recovered from your last fight.”
But Elias had already yanked open the door to his wardrobe, pulling out an old hunting spear. He wasn’t shaking. His stance was firm. That spark of playful mischief was gone, replaced by something strong. Fierce.
Elias
“You said that already.”
Suddenly, the front window exploded inward, shards of glass flying as a dark shape crashed into the room, low to the ground, fast, snarling.
A man-shaped blur with ashen skin, blackened veins pulsing, and glowing silver eyes.
A vampire.
???
“Step away from him,” *It hissed.*
???
“That scent... his scent... it’s real. It's him.”
Adrian reacted before he could think. He lunged, tackling the vampire through the shattered window, both of them slamming onto the dirt outside. A flurry of claws, teeth, and grunts followed, a brutal tangle of inhuman strength and speed.
Elias rushed to the doorway, weapon in hand. His heart was hammering, but not with fear, with rage.
They were here for him. And Adrian was risking everything to protect him.
???
*The vampire slammed Adrian into the garden fence, cracking the wood.*
???
“Traitor prince." *It spat.*
???
“Hiding the blood-bloom from us? What would your father say?”
Adrian
*Adrian’s eyes blazed.*
Adrian
“I don’t answer to corpses.”
He twisted and jammed a dagger deep into the creature’s ribs, then yanked it free.
But it wasn’t enough.
???
*It turned toward Elias, licking its lips.*
???
“I could drain him before you reach me. Just a taste.”
Elias
“Try it.” *Elias growled.*
He lunged with the spear. It wasn’t elegant, but it was fast, wild. The vampire dodged, surprised by his guts, but the blade still grazed its side. Blood hissed against the metal like acid.
It snarled and struck back, claws aiming for Elias’s chest, but Adrian was suddenly there, catching its wrist mid-swipe.
Adrian
“No one touches him.”
With a snarl, Adrian lifted the vampire into the air and slammed it into the tree trunk behind the garden. A sickening crack echoed. The creature writhed, and Adrian drove the dagger into its heart.
Silence fell.
Elias
*Elias stood, panting, looking at the now-motionless body.*
Elias
“...That was close." *He said, voice uneven.*
Adrian didn’t respond at first.
His hands were shaking.
Not from fear.
From restraint.
The fight, the blood, the way Elias’s scent flooded the air… It was almost too much.
Elias
“You okay?” *Elias asked softly, stepping closer.*
Adrian
*Adrian looked at him, really looked at him, and said, voice rough and low.*
Adrian
“No. You make everything worse.”
Elias
*Elias blinked, startled.*
Elias
“Thanks.” *He grinned*
Adrian
*Adrian shoved past him back into the cottage, muttering under his breath.*
Elias
*Elias followed, wiping his forehead.*
Elias
“So. I guess this means I’m popular?”
Adrian
*Adrian turned to him, deadly serious.*
Adrian
“This won’t be the last. You need to leave. Run far away.”
Elias
*Elias stepped closer, defiantly.*
Their eyes met. Something passed between them again, deeper than attraction, deeper than instinct. A promise.
Neither said it, but both knew.
This was no longer just protection. This was love, born in danger.
And love was a bloodline. No vampire could ignore.
