Episode 1
A luxurious wedding Hall. Warm lights, violin music, chatter of excited guests. But not everyone's smiling...
Jerry sites alone at around table near the back of the decorated hall. Her gown is elegant- sky blue, simple but striking. She sips on a glass of water emotionless.
Weddings. Loud music. Fake laughter. Forced smiles.
Everyone’s excited… except the bride.
The groom stands on the stage, all smiles for the crowd. But he keeps checking his watch.
Jerry Campbell (FL)
(glances at her phone) Running late, huh?
A group of women giggle beside her table. Someone compliments the decoration. But Jerry’s eyes slowly drift toward the back door of the hall. Something feels...off.
Jerry silently gets up, heels barely clicking, and moves toward the hallway behind the curtain. She stops near the door — half-open — where muffled voices echo.
Elaine Campbell (FL Mom)
(hissing)
She’s gone! What do we do now?!
Richard Campbell (FL Dad)
She ran?! That idiot! The groom’s family will ruin us if we cancel now!
Elaine Campbell (FL Mom)
We made a deal. A big one. If this falls through, we’re dead.
Richard Campbell (FL Dad)
We need a replacement. Fast.
Jerry pulls back from the door, heartbeat rising
Jerry Campbell (FL)
"They can’t mean what I think they mean…"
Elaine Campbell (FL Mom)
What about Jerry?
Richard Campbell (FL Dad)
She’s here. She fits the dress size. She’s prettier than Isla anyway.
Jerry rushes back to her table.
Sits down quickly, breathing hard. Trying to stay calm.
Jerry Campbell (FL)
No. No way. They wouldn’t dare.
In the Hallway the parents step out to look around.
Elaine Campbell (FL Mom)
(smiling at guests)
Everything’s fine! Just a small delay!
Her smile fades when her eyes lock on Jerry.
Richard Campbell (FL Dad)
(quietly to a guard)
Don’t let her leave.
Jerry sees guards move towards the exit.
She picks up her clutch and starts to walk fast toward the back door. A hand grabs her arm.
Guard
Mr. Campbell needs a word.
Jerry Campbell (FL)
(coldly)
Tell him I’m not interested.
Guard
(tightening grip):
It wasn’t a request.
Jerry is pushed inside. The door shuts behind her. Her parents are already there — tense, panicking, desperate. Jerry folds her arms, glaring.
Richard Campbell (FL Dad)
(low, urgent)
Your sister ran away.
Elaine Campbell (FL Mom)
The wedding has to happen, Jerry. You’ll take her place.
Jerry Campbell (FL)
(icy calm)
Are you serious right now? You think I’m some backup dress to zip into?
Richard Campbell (FL Dad)
(snapping)
Don’t make this harder. Just do it.
Elaine Campbell (FL Mom)
(manipulative, softening)
We raised you. Fed you. Paid for your school. You wouldn’t have that professor job if it wasn’t for us. This is the only thing we’ve ever asked for.
Jerry Campbell (FL)
(sharply)
One thing?
Selling me off like I’m a clearance item is the one thing?
Richard Campbell (FL Dad)
(angrily)
Don’t act like you’re better than us. You owe us everything.
Jerry Campbell (FL)
You think putting food in your kid’s mouth gives you the right to auction her off?
Elaine Campbell (FL Mom)
(frustrated)
Do you want us dead, Jerry?! This marriage isn’t just a wedding — it’s our survival. If it doesn’t happen, he’ll destroy us.
Jerry Campbell (FL)
(quiet but cutting)
Then maybe you should marry him
Jerry Campbell (FL)
(stepping back, voice steady)
I’m not your puppet.
I’ve been on my own since I was 18 — I don’t owe you anything
Richard Campbell (FL Dad)
(warning tone)
Watch how you talk to your parents.
Jerry Campbell (FL)
(furious now)
I do owe you, right?
Fine. I’ll pay you back. Every single penny.
And once I’m done...
You’ll never see me or another damn favor from me again.
The room goes silent. Jerry's chest rises and falls with emotion, but she doesn’t cry. She refuses to.
