The House That Never Felt Like Home

[Scene: Meher’s Home – tiny rented flat in Delhi outskirts]

Meher (narration, diary style):

“Everyone says home lies where the heart exists ❤️‍🩹.

But what if your heart dies a little more 💔… every time you return home?”

[Evening, Meher enters quietly. Her mother is shouting at someone on the phone.]

Mother (yelling):

“Don’t act smart with me, Renu! Do you think raising a girl like her is easy? Huhh? Useless, spineless, and yet not married!”

[She slams the phone. Notices Meher.]

Mother (cold glare):

“You finally returned? Did you flirt with boys all day again at that stupid bookstore?”

Meher (softly):

“No, Maa. I just worked and directly came to home…”

Mother (taunting):

“Don’t lie to me, shameless girl! I saw the way you smiled at that delivery boy yesterday.”

[Scene shifts to kitchen. Meher quietly starts cooking dinner.]

Meher (thinking):

I never answer back.

Not because I’m weak…

But because I’m tired😔.

[She slices vegetables. Her fingers tremble slightly from exhaustion.]

[Her father walks in – silent, aggressive, alcoholic. Slams a bottle on the table.]

Father:

“What the hell is this with Daal(Indian Lentil curry) again?! Can’t you make proper food like your mother?”

Meher (gently):

“There wasn’t enough money left for vegetables today, Papa…”

Father (throwing the plate):

“Then die! You and your useless bookstore job! Bringing shame to this house!”

[Later. Meher alone in her small room. Window half broken. Just one pillow. She clutches her diary.]

Meher (writing):

“Sometimes I wonder if I was born just to be punished.”

“My body doesn’t hurt anymore… but my soul bleeds every day.”

[Flashback – Meher’s childhood, around 9 years old.]

Little Meher:

“Maa, can I keep this stray puppy? He looks hungry.”

Mother (slapping her):

“We can’t even feed you properly! And now you want a dog? Are you mad?!”

[Meher stares blankly. That’s when she learned not to ask for love again.]

[Back to present – She thinks of the bookstore… and that stranger from earlier.]

Meher (whispers to herself):

“His eyes… why did they feel safe?”

“Even if just for a second… it felt like I mattered.”

[Scene shifts – Aarav at home, pouring himself a glass of wine. He thinks of Meher too.]

Aarav (to himself):

“She was quiet… but her silence screamed.

And that made more noise than any gun I’ve ever fired.”

Vihaan (teasing):

“Bhai, you’re zoning out. Don’t tell me some girl finally got into that stone heart of yours?”

Aarav (calmly):

“No… not into my heart.

She reminded me I still have one.”

[Scene – Late night, Meher’s father is yelling in another room. Meher locks herself in her room, trembling.]

Meher (diary):

“There’s no prince to save me. No fairy tale ending here.”

“Only one dream… escape.”

[Tears fall silently. She clutches her only prized possession—her poetry book.]

Meher (writing in the book’s last page):

“If I ever find someone who listens…

I won’t ask for love.

Just… don’t break me more.”

💔 To be continued…

Some girls don’t cry anymore, not because they’re strong—because they’re numb.
