Stop Chasing Me, Li Xingxing!
Lunchbox of Love (and Possible Food Poisoning)
Li xingxing woke up at 3 am, taking out his grandma's secret recipes lists, he flipped the pages, everything was so difficult for him.
Li Xingxing
Why do humans eat varieties, can't they be satisfied with a single dish?? *sobs*
Li Xingxing
What am I doing!!! my prince would be waiting for me, I have to play a perfect spouse and make something delicious for him *determined*
Li Xingxing
*throws away the recipes lists, takes out his mobile scrolling for the new recipes through online*
Li Xingxing
*scratches his head* mr. Cactus what do you say? Should I make dumblings??
Li Xingxing
*stares at it for awhile* I didn't buy groceries too *pouts* you are not helping mr.Cactus
Li Xingxing
*sighs* enough with this kid's play, I'm going to cook whatever that comes to my mind, with love and passion I can believe myself that my efforts, it's worth it
Zhou Yiran had made one mistake that morning. He came to campus hungry.
Zhou Yiran
Trust me I wasn't waiting for his lunch
He didn’t think it would matter. He planned to grab something from the vending machine and avoid certain people like usual. But fate—or more accurately, Li Xingxing—had other plans.
As Yiran walked through the courtyard, a figure jumped out from behind a tree like a cat.
Li Xingxing
YIRAN HONEY~! I MADE YOU LUNCH!
Zhou Yiran
*Flinched*…Why are you in a bush.
Li Xingxing
It’s a dramatic reveal. Do you like it?
Li Xingxing
*Held up a silver lunchbox wrapped with a heart-patterned cloth* I woke up at 4 A.M. to make this! My love and fish paste are inside.
Li Xingxing
Try it! It’s edible! Probably!
Zhou Yiran
*Stared at the lunchbox as if it were a ticking bomb*
Li Xingxing
*opened the box* Tadaa~! Heart-shaped dumplings, star-shaped carrots, and I even spelled your name in seaweed strips!
Indeed, Yiran was written in trembling seaweed letters that looked more like “Yutan,” but the effort was there.
Zhou Yiran
Why are the dumplings… blue? *asked cautiously*
Li Xingxing
I ran out of food coloring, so I used blueberry yogurt! Creative, right?
Zhou Yiran
…I’m calling security.
Li Xingxing
WAIT! *shoved a tiny spoon into his hand* Just one bite. I’ll go away for today if you try one. Pinky swear.
Zhou Yiran
*Stared at him. His stomach growled*. ...One.
Zhou Yiran
*Chewing slowly*
Li Xingxing
*Leaning in with sparkling eyes*
Li Xingxing
So? Delicious? Life-changing? You feel your heart fluttering, don’t you?
Zhou Yiran
*Paused, swallowed, and deadpanned*
…You put sugar and salt in the same dumpling.
Li Xingxing
I was aiming for balance! Sweet and savory!
Zhou Yiran
It tastes like heartbreak.
Li Xingxing
*Gasped* So poetic! You’re starting to speak my language!
Zhou Yiran
No. I mean literal heartbreak. My stomach hurts already
Yiran sat in the nurse’s office, sipping warm water and glaring at the wall. The nurse said it was “mild stomach confusion,” whatever that meant.
Meanwhile, Xingxing sat beside him, looking like a guilty puppy.
Li Xingxing
I may have mixed up the salt and baking soda.
Zhou Yiran
*didn't answer*
Li Xingxing
…Want a massage?
Li Xingxing
..... Foot rub?
Zhou Yiran
Absolutely not.
Li Xingxing
…I can write you a get-well poem?
Li Xingxing
*stood and dramatically placed his hand on Yiran’s shoulder*
Li Xingxing
Even in pain, you shine like a star. I’ll win your heart even if I have to poison you slowly with love!
Zhou Yiran
That’s not reassuring.
Back in the dorms, Xingxing updated his notebook.

✔ Step 2: Love letter
❌ Result: Public humiliation
Li Xingxing
✔ Step 3: Homemade lunch
❌ Result: Mild food poisoning
Li Xingxing
🔜 Step 4: Subtle flirting… maybe…
Li Xingxing
*tapped his pen against his chin* Note to self: Google the difference between salt and sugar. Also… check if Zhou Yiran has any food allergies.
Li Xingxing
*Giggled to himself, eyes sparkling with determination. “Love is a battlefield… and I’ve only just begun.”*
