"We Finally Met"
Taehyung didn’t say a word to anyone at first—not even to his brothers. Instead, he returned the following morning, a quiet presence in the back corner by the poetry shelves. The same book the Omega had touched was gone. The clerk didn’t remember selling it. Maybe he’d taken it. Maybe not. He stood there for almost an hour, pretending to read while his senses stretched for even the faintest trace of that scent. But the air was clean. Still. Empty. He left just before the lunch crowd arrived, coat buttoned high, hands in his pockets.
Kim Mingyu/ Beta
"Did you even sleep? You look like hell."
Kim Mingyu asked from across the tiny kitchen. The Beta leaned against the fridge, arms folded, watching his friend with a mixture of concern and patience.
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"I'm fine."
Jungkook muttered, not looking up.
Kim Mingyu/ Beta
"You're never fine when you say it like that."
Mingyu sighed, moving to pour himself a coffee. Jungkook didn't reply.
Kim Mingyu/ Beta
"Was it someone from your past?"
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"No."
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"But..... he was an Alpha."
The words left his mouth like something sour. He stared into the steaming cup as if it could explain what had happened in the bookstore—what he had felt.
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"I don’t know. It wasn’t like before. It wasn’t like Yogeum.”
The name sat heavy in the room. Mingyu didn’t flinch—he never did. But he didn’t press either. They didn’t talk about him unless Jungkook initiated it. And even then, only rarely.
Kim Mingyu/ Beta
"Did he talk to you?"
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"No..... He just looked at me."
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"And I ran."
Mingyu didn’t ask why. He already knew. The boy who used to be bold and curious had learned—brutally—that some instincts can betray you. Especially when you're an Omega in a world that romanticizes control.
Kim Mingyu/ Beta
"Maybe you should've stayed."
Mingyu said after a moment. Jungkook's eyes flicked up.
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"Why?"
Kim Mingyu/ Beta
“You’re still talking about him. That usually means something.”
Taehyung didn’t like feeling restless. He was a man of control—measured in words, deliberate in actions. But the Omega had unsettled him. Not in the way most people did when they resisted or flirted or lied. This had been different. Pure. Defensive. Unpredictable.
He was standing at the window of his office when his younger brother Jimin walked in without knocking.
Kim Jimin/Omega
“I brought you coffee. You’re welcome. You owe me dinner.”
Jimin announced as he placed cup on table.
Taehyung glanced at the cup, then back at the city skyline.
Kim Taehyung/ Alpha
“I’m not hungry.”
Kim Jimin/Omega
“Hyung. You’ve been weird for days. Are you dying?”
Kim Jimin/Omega
"Are you in love?"
Taehyung actually turned then, one brow raised.
Kim Taehyung/ Alpha
"That's a stretch."
Kim Jimin/Omega
“You say that, but you look like someone who’s been hit in the face with fate.”
Taehyung didn't answer not directly, instead he said.
Kim Taehyung/ Alpha
“Do we still have access to security feeds around that old bookstore in Gangnam?”
Kim Taehyung/ Alpha
"I want to find someone."
Jimin’s face shifted. He grew quiet.
Kim Jimin/Omega
"Someone dangerous?"
Kim Jimin/Omega
"Then why the cameras?"
Kim Taehyung/ Alpha
“Because I didn’t ask his name. And I don’t know why, but I need to.”
Jimin studied him for a moment before nodding.
Kim Jimin/Omega
“I’ll talk to Namjoon-hyung. He’s better at digging.”
Kim Taehyung/ Alpha
"Discreetly."
Kim Jimin/Omega
"Ofcourse! but hyung , if you think this Omega is important don't chase him like Alpha. Find him like a man."
Later that night, Jungkook met with his older brother Jeon Jin at a quiet ramen shop near the riverside. Jin was loud where Jungkook was quiet, confident where Jungkook retreated.
Jeon Jin/ Omega
"How's work?"
Jin asked between mouthful of noodles.
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"Fine. The bakery’s slow during the week, but the manager’s letting me take more closing shifts.”
Jungkook replied tiredly.
Jeon Jin/ Omega
"You're still not eating enough. You look pale."
Jin said pointing at noodles of bowls with his chopsticks.
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"I saw someone yesterday."
Jungkook blurted before he could think better of it.
Jeon Jin/ Omega
"Someone like.....?"
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"Like… someone I shouldn’t feel anything for.”
Jin sobered up completely.
Jeon Jin/ Omega
"Another Alpha?"
Jungkook nodded looking down.
Jeon Jin/ Omega
"You want me to find him?"
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
"No. He didn’t do anything. He didn’t even speak to me. He just looked at me like… he knew something.”
Jin leaned forward, resting his arms on the table.
Jeon Jin/ Omega
"You're scared?"
Jeon Jungkook/ Omega
“I don’t want to be, But it’s like my body reacts before my mind can decide. Like my scent wants him to find me.”
Jungkook whispered. Jin exhaled slowly.
Jeon Jin/ Omega
“Then you either run again… or you figure out who he is and decide for yourself.”
At midnight, Taehyung sat alone in his apartment, a book unopened in his lap. The city lights flickered outside his window, but his thoughts weren’t there. He closed his eyes. Cedarwood. Rain. Vanilla. A scent he couldn’t forget. A face he’d only seen once. A name he didn’t know. Yet somehow, it already mattered.
