"We Finally Met"

Jungkook’s breath fogged in the cold air as he stepped out into the alley behind the bookstore. He didn’t look back. His hands trembled as he stuffed them into the pockets of his hoodie, the hem of it tugging down further to cover the slight quiver in his frame. He didn’t know why his body was reacting so strongly. It had just been a look. Just one glance across a room. Nothing had been said, no touch exchanged. But his instincts had surged all the same.
Alpha. Not just an Alpha. Him. Whoever he was. The stranger had a presence that filled the room without trying. It wasn’t arrogance, but gravity—as if everything nearby couldn’t help but tilt in his direction. Jungkook had felt it the second their eyes met. Something in his chest had fluttered and clenched all at once, a confused mess of attraction, warning, and old fear.
He couldn’t afford to feel things like that. Not anymore. Jungkook slipped into the flow of pedestrians on the main road, pulling his beanie lower over his forehead. The city felt louder suddenly—every car horn, every streetlight hum, every footstep echoing in his head. He needed to get away. Go somewhere quiet. Somewhere safe. He passed the coffee shop he usually stopped at and kept walking.
Back at the bookstore, Taehyung remained in the same place for far too long. He wasn’t sure what had just happened—only that it was unfinished. Something about the way the Omega looked at him stayed behind like a fingerprint on his mind. It hadn’t been fear exactly… more like a challenge. A wall. He didn’t like walls. Not when they hid someone whose scent had shaken him to the core.
He didn’t know his name. Had no way of tracing him. For all he knew, the Omega could’ve been passing through, never to return. Still, he stayed longer than he needed to, slowly circling the store, retracing where the Omega had stood. He found the poetry section again and reached for the same book the boy had held. The spine was warm. Recently touched.
He flipped through the pages, eyes scanning the verses without absorbing them. His mind wandered instead to the curve of the boy’s lips, the slight wideness of his eyes, the subtle shift in his scent—like he’d caught Taehyung’s gaze and run not because he was afraid of Alphas, but because he was afraid of him. Taehyung closed the book. This wasn’t obsession. Not yet. It was recognition. And that was worse.
That night, Jungkook lay awake on the small mattress in his studio apartment, a thin blanket pulled over his chest. He’d left the window cracked open even though the air was cold—it helped him breathe. Helped him think. Or forget. The dim light from the street lamp filtered through the curtains, painting patterns across the ceiling. He stared at them, unblinking. He didn’t even know the Alpha’s name. He hadn’t wanted to.
But he remembered his face. The strong jawline, sharp nose, eyes like autumn dusk. The kind of face that could be carved into memory far too easily. It had been calm. Too calm. Most Alphas grew agitated when near an unfamiliar Omega—especially an unbounded one. Their instincts fought for dominance. But he hadn’t. He’d just… looked. Watched. As if Jungkook had caught his interest, not as prey, but as something deeper.
Jungkook rolled over, pressing his face into the pillow. No. He couldn’t afford to think like that. Not about anyone. Especially not an Alpha. Not after everything he’d spent the last two years recovering from.
The next morning, Taehyung arrived at his family’s business offices earlier than usual. The tall glass building reflected the Seoul skyline like a mirror, sleek and untouchable. Inside, everything was cold tones and clean edges. His secretary, a quiet Beta named Min Seo-jun, greeted him with a bow and a tablet full of scheduled meetings. But Taehyung wasn't focused.

"You're not focused".
Someone said from behind. Taehyung didn't need to turn.

"Good morning, Yoongi".
Min Yoongi—his long-time friend and advisor—walked in with a coffee in hand, dark hair still slightly tousled, black suit perfectly rumpled in a way only he could pull off.

“You’re not usually the type to let something get under your skin, but here you're. Brooding".

"I'm not brooding".
Yoongi raised an eyebrow.

“You’re in the poetry section of your brain. That’s basically brooding for you.”
Taehyung leaned against the windowsill, gaze fixed on the city below.

"I saw someone yesterday."
Yoongi stilled.

"Someone?"
Taehyung nodded.

"An Omega!"

"Was it.....?"

"I don't know, it felt like it. But he ran."

"Then what are you going to do?"

"I'm going to find him."
Taehyung's fingers curled slightly at his sides.
