He said laughing it out, but his comments rather made me sad. Journalism. It's all that I have always wanted to do. It was once my dream to become a news anchor or even a radio jockey.
But my daddy didn't want to wait for that to happen. He was very determined to marry me off to some guy so that he could save for his other daughter's wedding. Akashi was all grown up too. And I can understand because daddy didn't stop me from studying, he just wanted me to do it after getting married to someone. So, he's free of one of the responsibilities.
All the potential grooms daddy introduced me to in the past were all very educated and well-mannered belonging from a decent family, but I just don't want to be married when I open my wings and become independent.

Aunty must be dying to get you married after being rejected by twenty-two girls?
Rehan
Exactly. It doesn't even matter to her anymore, she just wants to see me marry a girl, any girl now. And so, I cannot reject you
Rehan
So, might as well you do the honors and save us both.
I remained silent for a few seconds. There were a lot of questions running inside my head. Maybe I wanted to wait and marry Mihir but, like me, he is young too. He hasn't finished college either. Until he finishes college, gets himself a job, and becomes well settled it would be good 5-6 years and I'm pretty sure my parents wouldn't wait so long
Also, the fact that Mihir is a nice boyfriend, but I cannot see him as a husband...yet.

I have rejected seventeen boys. You're eighteenth and better than every other guy I have rejected in the past looking at your personality and bank balance

It would be hard for me to reject you. I don't know why, I have a sinking feeling that we might actually end up getting married.
I could watch Rehan's expressions change.
Rehan
What do you mean you can't. Listen, even if we do end up getting married, I'm not going to stop being a Playboy. Do you get that?
Rehan
Also, I don't want my wife to go around hitting on men after she becomes my wife because that would drive my mom crazy and make my home life a mess.

So, basically you want a girl who is okay with you sleeping with other girls but doesn't sleep with other men herself?
I said it as a sarcasm to his list of requirements.
Rehan
I do. But she can divorce and get out whenever she wants. She can spend however much she wants. My money would be hers, of course. Just not my loyalty. Just not my heart. Because as you might have guessed by now, I don't have a heart

I asked and he looked at me confused.
And there was a prolonged awkward silence between the two of us after that. We finished our tea in that silence. Not five minutes later Akashi came with a mischievous smile on her face. It wasn't out of the ordinary, she did the same thing seventeen times before as well.
Akashi
So, jijaji? Done talking? Or wanna talk some more?
