Ashes Of What Could Have Been⁴
The days blurred into each other. Morning tasks. Afternoon punishments. Nights filled with the sound of Taehyung's shoes clicking against the floor while Jungkook sat quietly like a trained pet.
He started to lose time. One minute he was cleaning, the next he was waking up on the floor. Sometimes in the kitchen. Once, in the laundry room, curled against the dryer, too exhausted to remember how he got there.
The physical exhaustion wasn't what broke him.
Taehyung never yelled. Never raised his voice. Never left bruises where people could see. But every word, every cold glance, every rule was a dagger that pushed Jungkook closer to madness.
One night, while serving dinner, Jungkook dropped a wine glass by mistake.
It shattered across the tiles.
He froze - eyes wide, breath trapped in his lungs.
Taehyung didn't even flinch. He set his fork down and gestured at the floor.

With trembling hands, Jungkook knelt.
The glass cut into his fingers as he cleaned, blood mixing with the shards.
Not when he no longer knew where pain ended and numbness began.
