Chapter 3: Tainted Hearts and Triggered Guns

Blood.

It was all Taehyung could smell.

Jungkook lay in the backseat of a stolen blacked-out car, bleeding through a towel pressed tight against his side. Taehyung’s hands were soaked in red, trembling as the driver sped through the city with no destination—only desperation.

“Stay with me,” Taehyung whispered, brushing Jungkook’s hair off his sweat-drenched forehead.

Jungkook gave a breathless chuckle. “You’re crying, prince.”

“Shut up,” Taehyung snapped, voice cracking. “I’m not crying. I’m furious.”

“Oh good…” Jungkook smirked weakly. “You look hot when you're mad.”

The words should’ve made Taehyung smile. But all he felt was a storm breaking loose inside him.

Because when Jungkook went down earlier—when his body hit the ground like dead weight—Taehyung’s soul shattered.

---

Hours later…

A private doctor patched up Jungkook at another one of Taehyung’s hidden safehouses. The bullet had missed vital organs, but the pain left him weak.

Taehyung sat beside him the whole time, refusing to move. Watching. Waiting.

And when Jungkook finally stirred, hours later, the first words out of his mouth were:

“Where’s the bastard that shot me?”

Taehyung stood, jaw tight. “Dead.”

Jungkook blinked. “What?”

“I put a bullet through his mouth.”

For a second, Jungkook was speechless. Then he gave a crooked grin. “That’s my boy.”

But Taehyung wasn’t smiling.

“I almost lost you.”

“Yeah. But you didn’t.”

“You’re an idiot, Jungkook.”

“And you’re beautiful when you're scared for me.”

Taehyung’s hands curled into fists. “Why do you always do this?”

“Because if anyone’s going to die for you… it’s going to be me.”

The words hit deeper than any bullet.

And that’s when the kiss happened—violent, desperate, wet with emotion. Taehyung crawled into Jungkook’s lap, straddling him, pressing his mouth to his with hunger. His hands tangled in Jungkook’s hair, and Jungkook’s fingers gripped his waist like he was afraid he’d disappear.

The kiss was fire and madness—raw, dangerous, and filled with everything they couldn’t say.

“I hate how much I need you,” Taehyung gasped between kisses.

“Then need me harder,” Jungkook growled, pulling him in again.

---

Later that night

Word got out.

Hyunsoo wasn’t done. He had a new weapon: Kira, a Japanese assassin who once dated Jungkook.

And now she wanted his head—and maybe Taehyung’s too.

“You’ve got some history with her, huh?” Taehyung asked coldly, arms crossed as they went over blueprints in the safehouse war room.

Jungkook rolled his eyes. “Jealous?”

“Should I be? She did send a photo of herself in lingerie holding your gun.”

“That was years ago.”

Taehyung stepped closer. “Did you love her?”

Jungkook paused. “No.”

“Did you f*** her?”

Silence.

Taehyung’s heart twisted. “Answer me.”

“Yes,” Jungkook said, low and serious. “But I never looked at her the way I look at you.”

The tension was electric. Taehyung stared into his eyes, furious and burning with something deeper.

“Then show me.”

And just like that—they crashed into each other again. Taehyung shoved him against the table, kissing him so hard it was punishment. Jungkook groaned, lifting him up onto the edge, hands sliding up Taehyung’s thighs as if needing proof this was real.

“I’m not hers,” Jungkook whispered against his lips. “I’m yours.”

---

The next day – The Ambush

The intel was clear: Kira would be meeting Hyunsoo’s men at the Red Lantern docks at 11:30 p.m. A shipment of weapons. And possibly a trap.

Perfect.

Taehyung wore all black—bulletproof vest beneath his silk, a knife strapped to his thigh, his eyes cold and sharp. Jungkook stood beside him like a devil in human skin—black jacket, twin pistols, and a snarl on his face that promised death.

“You ready?” Jungkook asked.

Taehyung nodded. “Let’s burn this city.”

---

At the docks

Gunfire broke the silence.

Smoke grenades filled the air.

Taehyung moved like a ghost—fast, silent, deadly. He slashed two guards without blinking, blood splashing on his cheek. Jungkook provided cover, spinning through shadows, shooting clean through heads like he was born to do it.

Then he saw her—Kira.

Leather boots. Black hair. A sniper rifle in her hands.

“Taehyung!” Jungkook screamed as the red laser landed on his prince’s chest.

He dove forward, slamming into Taehyung just as the bullet fired.

It missed.

But it was enough to light Taehyung’s fury.

He sprang up, running full speed toward Kira.

“You came,” she said with a cold smile.

“Wrong move,” Taehyung snarled—and lunged.

They fought like dancers—kicks, blades, fists. Sparks flew from steel. Taehyung ducked one swing, then slammed his knee into her gut. She spat blood and laughed.

“He’s still mine, you know.”

Taehyung pressed the knife to her throat. “Not anymore.”

He didn’t hesitate.

The blade slid in smooth.

She choked once—then collapsed.

When Taehyung turned, Jungkook was there, watching him.

Something in his eyes had changed.

It was awe.

And love.

“You killed her,” Jungkook said softly.

“I told you,” Taehyung replied. “You’re mine.”

Jungkook grabbed him by the collar and pulled him into another kiss—deep, rough, filled with blood and lust and that high that only killing and touching each other could give them.

Their lips moved like they were claiming territory. Like they were home.

Jungkook’s hands explored Taehyung’s body as if to make sure he was still alive, still real.

And Taehyung let him.

Right there, surrounded by bodies and smoke, they kissed like war was just another language of love.
