Chapter 2: One Night That Burned the World

Taehyung had never been the type to lose control.

He was always the one watching from the shadows, sipping expensive wine with cold fingers and colder intentions. Love wasn’t in his vocabulary—only loyalty, power, and survival.

But that night? That damn night with Jungkook?

It cracked something inside him.

The air in the van was thick with adrenaline and lust as the tires screeched to a halt. Somewhere on the outskirts of the city, away from the chaos and bloodshed, Jungkook pushed open the doors of the safehouse and dragged Taehyung inside, slamming it shut behind them.

“Sit,” Jungkook growled, still high on adrenaline.

Taehyung didn’t listen. “You don’t get to give me orders.”

“You wanna die, prince?” Jungkook snapped. “Because someone just tried to make that happen. And I just saved your royal ass.”

Taehyung shoved him. “I didn’t ask you to!”

But Jungkook didn’t move. His body was stone. Steady. Strong. And when Taehyung looked up into his eyes, he wasn’t sure if he hated him… or wanted him more.

“You think this was all about the kiss?” Jungkook murmured.

Taehyung said nothing.

“Tell me to leave.” Jungkook stepped closer. “Tell me, and I’ll walk out that door.”

Taehyung’s chest rose and fell. He should’ve screamed. Should’ve thrown another insult. But all that came out was:

“…Stay.”

The moment shattered.

Jungkook’s hands were on him again—rough, hot, hungry. Their mouths met in a clash of teeth and moans, peeling away layers of silk and restraint. Jackets hit the floor, shirts followed. Taehyung’s hands ran across Jungkook’s abs, nails digging into his skin like he was trying to anchor himself to something real for once in his life.

They stumbled toward the couch, bodies tangled in heat and desperation. Jungkook’s lips moved to his throat, trailing soft, wet kisses, until Taehyung whimpered.

“Say my name,” Jungkook whispered against his skin.

“Jungkook…”

“You’re not thinking about war right now, are you?”

Taehyung looked into his eyes, half-lidded and glassy. “Right now… I don’t care if the world burns.”

The next morning

Taehyung woke up tangled in warm sheets, his body aching deliciously. Sunlight streamed through broken blinds, illuminating the tattoos on Jungkook’s bare back as he stood by the window, shirtless, cigarette between his fingers.

The moment was fragile. Almost soft.

“Why are you watching me like that?” Jungkook asked without turning.

Taehyung leaned on his elbow. “Because you don’t look like the kind of man who lets his guard down.”

“I don’t.”

“Then why did you stay?”

Jungkook exhaled a thin line of smoke. “Because for once… I didn’t want to leave.”

Taehyung felt something dangerous curl in his chest. This wasn’t supposed to happen. It was supposed to be a one-night escape. Just heat and shadows.

But now, it felt like more.

Too much more.

Before he could respond, the burner phone on the table lit up, vibrating violently.

Jungkook snatched it up, eyes darkening as he read the message.

“What is it?” Taehyung asked, sitting up.

Jungkook turned, face suddenly serious. “Your brother… he’s been kidnapped.”

Taehyung’s blood ran cold.

“What?!”

“They left a message. No ransom. No demand. Just coordinates and a warning.” Jungkook tossed him the phone. “It says: ‘Come alone, or he dies.’”

Taehyung’s heart pounded. “I need to go.”

“No,” Jungkook snapped. “That’s suicide. They’ll kill you too.”

“That’s my brother! I don’t care—”

“I do!” Jungkook cut him off, stepping forward. “You think I spent all night protecting you, risking my neck, just for you to walk into a trap like a fool?”

Taehyung’s fists clenched. “Then help me.”

Jungkook stared at him, jaw tight.

“Damn it, Jungkook—please.”

The silence between them broke something open. It wasn’t just about the mission anymore. It wasn’t even just about lust.

It was personal now.

“I’ll come with you,” Jungkook said finally. “But this isn’t a rescue. This is war.”

Later that night

The location was an abandoned shipyard on the edge of the city. Rain poured down like bullets, soaking their black clothes as they approached the dock. The silence was eerie. Taehyung’s heart thundered in his chest—not from fear, but from the storm inside him.

Jungkook’s voice was low. “Stay close. No hero moves.”

Taehyung nodded, fingers brushing Jungkook’s lightly. A silent pact. If they went down, they went down together.

They found him in a shipping container.

Bloodied. Tied. Breathing—barely.

Taehyung ran forward, but the shadows moved before he could reach him.

Gunshots.

“GET DOWN!” Jungkook shouted, tackling him behind a crate just as bullets tore through the air.

From behind the walls, a dozen masked men emerged, surrounding them with raised rifles. Trapped.

Taehyung's breath caught in his throat.

Then a voice came—mocking, smooth, and cruel.

“Well, well. The Kim prince and his new lapdog. What a beautiful sight.”

From the shadows stepped a tall man with a scarred cheek and devil’s eyes.

“Park Hyunsoo,” Taehyung growled. “You bastard.”

Hyunsoo smirked. “You killed my father. Did you really think I wouldn’t return the favor?”

Jungkook raised his gun. “Let the brother go.”

Hyunsoo chuckled. “Oh, the puppy speaks. Tell me, Jungkook… do you think sleeping with the enemy makes you one of them?”

“Try me,” Jungkook growled.

But Hyunsoo was faster.

He snapped his fingers.

A man raised a pistol—

And fired.

Taehyung screamed, diving toward his brother.

But it wasn’t him who was hit.

It was Jungkook.

The bullet tore through his side, dropping him to the ground.

“NO!” Taehyung shouted, crawling to him as chaos exploded. Guns blazed, and bodies fell, but Taehyung only saw Jungkook—bleeding, breath ragged, eyes trying to stay open.

“You idiot,” Taehyung whispered, tears mixing with the rain. “Why did you protect me?”

Jungkook smiled weakly. “Told you… you’re mine now.”
